Damn, this is a not a good look. I can't help but think (or hope) that the organizational flunkie that was told to post this announcement did not get it reviewed or signed off on by management.

It's safe to say they are against Putin and the attack on the Ukraine. From a lot of their songs we know they are against war. But in this case I hope we get a little clarification from the Maiden camp.

They knew exactly what they were doing, Rod doesnt let anything be posted thats not run by him first, it seems they are just taking a neutral stance on it and chosing not to condemn whats going on,

Interesting that they added two Baltic dates to replace the cancelled Moscow and Kyiv gigs. Probably doesn't mean anything, but interesting nonetheless.

just out of curiosity why do you find it interesting?

i think it was probably just a matter of logistisc and maybe the wanted to accomodate people from the former russian territories who wanted to travel to one of the two cancelled shows.

I agree, it's most likely logistics. I would have expected them to move the gigs to a bigger market like Finland or Poland, so maybe, just maybe there is a tiny little bit of support for the Baltics in there. But there most likely isn't. But there is a tiny part in me that consciously chooses it wants to believe that.

They have gigs in Finland and Poland this summer. The gig in Warsaw is one of the biggest of them all. A stadium with over 50k capacity, it wouldn't make any sense to do one more Polish show.

Stop justify/defend them. At least they must officially release PR in support of Ukraine. Period.

Not playing any shows would leave a gap in their schedule and that would mean losing a significant amount of money. Scheduling a couple of gigs in nearby markets makes financial sense to the brand.

For the artists sake I hope so. I know they did affect tix for Bruce’s show in Atlanta and ticket sales for Priest have been looking dismal.

Oakland show was sold out and the other shows were nearly sold out.
San Antonio, Nashville and Charleston are the only 3 upcoming shows under 50% of tickets sold so far.

The Finnish gig is a festival appearance, so adding another gig isn't realistic here either. Even if they're not bound by contract to only play the one gig here (which I imagine they are), I doubt they could sell out an arena on such short notice when they already have a big show lined up. And there's no way to really know if there's even a suitable venue available, it's a pretty small country in the end.

It must be so..and I don't see this happen that easily to Maiden. I can't even recall seeing actually discounted tickets being advertised.

I remember this happening for Zagreb in 2013. The show was selling poorly and they started selling tickets at a much reduced price to "celebrate Croatia joining the EU".

I felt like a right twat having bought my tickets at full price a few days before they announced the discounted prices.
