Legacy Of The Beast Post-Pandemic Leg

As I said previously, I think Donington is massively overrated. I used to think it was hallowed ground, but it is a shithole.
I think it really depends on your own personal experience. I've been to Download 5 times and only had one bad experience (in 2016 when it rained the whole weekend).

And even if it rains, as long as you're camped uphill and wearing waterproof clothing you won't fare too badly. Or get a hotel.

Hoping for good weather this year.

Donington is grand as far as festivals go. Right beside an airport, and 3 pretty decent sized cities less than an hour away, I usually stay in Nottingham which is lovely, stayed in villages nearby a couple of times which is better again but can be real hard to book given demand. I'd much more of a nightmare getting to and from Graspop or Knebworth.

You'll get the risk of mud anywhere in the UK.

Did you saw Maiden at Graspop in 2000 and 2003?

Each to their own I guess. I have been to many different festivals over the years in the UK and abroad and Download is definitely at the bottom of my list.

I hope you'll get good weather and enjoy the experience this year. I will have to rely on the Sky Arts coverage. :D

2005 only, I was staying in Antwerp and there was no public transport back afterwards, we had to pay €120 for a taxi!
I remember I walked from the festival area in 2003 to the nearest trainstation (Mol) and waited for my first train home. I used to live in Antwerp area. :)

Yeah we kind of made a bollocks of our whole travel plans, Maiden played in Paris on the Saturday and Graspop on the Sunday. My mate had the idea of hiring a car, driving to Antwerp from Paris and then from there to the gig and back. However, whatever happened he couldn't hire a car that would let him do this (we were flying back from Eindhoven so I guess he wanted to leave it there??) so we ended up having to wing it, we got to Graspop at about 5 in the afternoon!

Loughborough is good to stay in if you're not camping. They run a direct bus service to Donington every 30 minutes.

The concert in Latvia will be the band's first ever visit there, right? They played in Lithuania during TBOS tour.

In the Philippines too, but unfortunately it was canceled.

I plan a pilgrimage to Wacken one of these days.
why do you all like Wacken that much? overrated imho. alone the fact that there's no day tickets available makes the whole thing mehhh to me. plus too many of my country fellas in the place. I prefer Donington.

The North American ticket prices are just obscene. Looking at Ottawa, $349ca after Ticketmaster tax for one bleachers seat over half way back from the stage, $750ca for an actually decent (official) seat. You'd have to be a moron or a massochist to pay that. You could pretty near fly from Canada to Donington, see the show, and fly back for that money. This is not just supply and demand, it's an asymmetrical market place, artificial scarcity and a seller (sadly the band itself), prepared to gouge the very eyes out of their customers.

Those sound like the official platinum tickets and yeah they are expensive. But they usually are the best available at the time

The legendary British heavy metal band "Iron Maiden" will stay in Split for 26 days, from mid-April to mid-May this year, Dalmacijanews reported .

However, Bruce Dickinson and the band are not preparing a new concert in Split, but, as it turns out, they have chosen Split as the place where they will prepare for the upcoming world tour.
