So, this is how you do it. You go to ironmaiden.com, click on "Tours" then find Paris and click "On sale". It takes you to Ticketmaster page and click or two after that - you're looking at the seating chart. Then you see only availible tickets cost 67.50 euros - seating and they at the far end of the arena. And then you notice there's only 294 ticket left out of (checks Wikipedia) 40000. It took less than a minute.
Actually, it took longer to write this.
I remember this happening for Zagreb in 2013. The show was selling poorly and they started selling tickets at a much reduced price to "celebrate Croatia joining the EU".

I felt like a right twat having bought my tickets at full price a few days before they announced the discounted prices.
I remember this, but it had nothing to do with Maiden - it was a government issue. IIRC, they made some sudden VAT at the beginning of the 2013 which made some organizers pull the plug on their shows and than mid-spring they announced (pretty suddenly) that 50% sale on concert tickets. Due to this, I saw much more that summer than I planned (Roger Waters and Robert Plant were some of them).

EDIT: Speaking of Zagreb, I texted a couple of my friends this morning that they probably won't see Maiden, because standing tickets have been sold out. This may be a bad estimate, but I believe '22 gig in Zagreb sold more tickets 2 months before the show than a couple of previous Croatian gigs.

Was the original show not sold out?

As far as I can remember, if it was not sold out it was quite close. I would not expect a huge number of tickets having been returned, so it could well be a case of trying to get rid of what is left at bargain prices.

if it was your only option for Maiden, then yes, but otherwise no. Looks quite a poor line up. Only other bands that interest me are Megadeth, and maybe Sepultura but I have no interest in them post Chaos A.D., and those bands could clash with each other and/or Maiden.

£100 for a day ticket to Download. Is it worth it?
I'm going for the full weekend but even £100 for a day is worth it. As well as Maiden you've got Deftones, Megadeth, Mastodon, Sepultura, Bleed From Within, Code Orange and Venom Prison to start with. Plus loads of other to check out during the day. You'll always end up discovering someone new.

I'd like to experience it once at least. Same goes for Rock am Ring and Wacken. I'm going to Lollapalooza for the first time ever this year (despite it being in my backyard for the past... 15 years?)
