So Eddie with horns isn't ok but having a massive devil during TNOTB is? Maiden have been doing this since their beginning. Maiden aren't satanists, but they use a lot of satanic imagery.

It's always been for shock value, I think. And Steve writes some pretty dark stuff, but I don't think it's ever been intended as pro-Satanic. I mean...come on.

Satan is a boogeyman the church uses to keep their subjects in line.
Eddie (usually) personifies "the evil that men do".
The Number Of The Beast cover shows Eddie puppeteering Satan, who is in turn puppeteering a human.
As for the song... and the blow-up Baphomet on stage... it's all a bit like a Hammer horror movie, innit?
Entertainment.

I would rather say Maiden uses Biblical imagery.

Christians recognise the Devil's image just as do non believers. Worshiping and recognising are 2 different things :)

I think that's a pretty sad statement, when the entire band is certainly not Satanic and at least half of them are practicing Christians. Nobody's becoming a Satanist because Iron Maiden picks a particular form for Eddie. But hey, if that's the straw that breaks your particular camel's back, then so be it.
Who is a Christian, apart from Nicko? And where/when did they say so - can you post a link?
:)

Paul Cairns nowadays, but I very much doubt LC had him in mind.
"At least half of them", boy I hope you're wrong.

Isn't Steve a Christian? Or maybe he hasn't specifically stated that, we're just assuming.

He can't be. Steve Harris is the only true god (I had to write it here one day and you gave me the occasion not to be fully out of context :D).
Seriously, he has certainly his share of mysticism (but who hasn't ?) but he can't be described specifically as christian.

Nicko is a devoted Christian.

Anyway... I always look at IM backdrops/stage shennanigans as a way to visualize the song a bit more. I mean, hearing TNOTB or especially IM for the umpteenth time would be nothing to look forward to really, unless there is a new Eddie/stage set.

Or if uh... I was there...

Very impressive, especially considering how cheap (arguably) Iron Maiden tickets were compared to a lot of those other bands.

I was at the barrier for two of the three shows I went to in 2017, and they cost me $120 each. Which, really, is nothing with how ridiculous some of those ticket prices are.

To be on the field at Busch Stadium for the Metallica concert was $400-500, and front row Guns N Roses was around $750. No, I did not pay these personally, but I remember it was what the seats were priced at when I browsed them. And while I didn't end up going to the show, I looked up tickets for the Roger Waters concert from St. Louis and the closest seats were also up in the $600-700 range.

Maiden has always tried to price themselves well. It's one of the things I respect about the band. Sure, if I want a tshirt and a beer at the gig that's an extra $50, but really, I don't need those things.

I want them, like, a lot.

I suddenly want the next album to a concept album based on the works of Aliester Crowley. I want it to have an Eddie dressed as Satan on the front cover and for the album to contain at least one backwards message like on piece of mind except rather than it be Nicko farting around I want it to be Bruce reading a passage from the satanic bible!

It would be really interesting to see which Eddie they gonna choose to appear on the Iron Maiden song and the walk-on Eddie since this tour is not on a specific album and it's not a History tour ! Greatest hits , yeaaaaahhhhhh !!! :)
