Yes indeed. It's odd. There have been so much to ask about the current tour or SJ.Is it just me or have Maiden really cut down the amount of interviews they do since the pandemic? I feel like every album and tour we'd get LOADS of interviews with the band, and for Senjutsu/LOTB/TFPT there's not been much at all.
I guess there's no thread for IM collectibles then...Sorry if this is the wrong thread but I didn't really know where to put it.
Adrian's idea to leave ATG out of the 1986 tour... interesting and expected. Because of the solo in the middle? Brand new info from Nicko here. The latest issue of a finnish music magazine called Soundi has an interventiew of Nicko (btw the interviewer is Kai Hahto, a big Maiden fan). The interview has few interesting points that were new to me:
- It was Adrians idea to leave Alexander out of Somewhere on tour setlist
- Bruce and some guitar players demanded Nicko to play the Trooper slower on this tour
- Nickos opening fill on Where Eagles Dare were originally a longer tom roll but Steve did not like it. Eventually Steve created the fill with a little help from Nicko
- Nicko just cant play the fast snare part in Caught Somewhere in Time due to his known health issues
Thanks for sharing! Nothing too surprising there, but it's nice to hear it from Nicko himself. The latest issue of a finnish music magazine called Soundi has an interventiew of Nicko (btw the interviewer is Kai Hahto, a big Maiden fan). The interview has few interesting points that were new to me:

Decades of increasing his skill, confidence and professionalism. So Adrian was the reason Maiden didn't play Alexander the Great on the original Somewhere in Time tour. I guess he thought he couldn't pull it off live. I wonder what changed his mind in 2023.
Also if they did it in the 80s it probably would've been twice as fast throughout, especially during the infamous interlude solo.Decades of increasing his skill, confidence and professionalism.

I agree if Steve wanted to play it it would have been played, unless the entire rest of the band were against it and even then they’d have a fight with Steve if he really wanted the song. Thanks for sharing this.
No disrespect to Nicko, but I find it hard to believe that they did not play Alexander the Great on the Somewhere on tour because Adrian did not want to. Steve was calling the shots and if he had wanted them to play it live, they would have played it live.
