Iron Maiden News, Links, and Interviews

Aye I thought the same re Celts. Makes more sense goin by what I saw in Dublin. My much maligned seating tickets allowed me to see many people leave durin that number.

Personally, I enjoyed it more than on record.

I left myself after the didley aye section, not as any comment on the track, but my hands were empty at that stage.

To be fair, the didley aye section seemed to be getting some action going on the floor from my birdseye view.

Nice photo of Blaze watching from the seats with the fans. He had a perfect view of the big screen. It would be cool if he met with the band after the show. He should have attended the previous tour to hear some of his songs. From the current setlist, he played only 4 songs with the band! He likes the new epic songs and the last song in the set for sure. Maiden should have invited him for the last encore to do a duet with Bruce, especially since it's one of his favorite songs of the band that he's never played live with them. :)

Perhaps he's still not ready to sing due to his health care. Anyway I hope he's ready for the next year and I hope Maiden get rid of those support bands and get him as support band for some shows or for the entire tour. He deserves it. Would be good for him, Maiden and the fans.

Poor Blaze. He didn’t even get a back-stage pass from the band. He had to buy a ticket like the rest of the peons.
I'm quite sure he went backstage to say hello to Steve (and perhaps Bruce and Janick if they were around) before the show. Or maybe he met with Steve during the day and got his pass.

Why? When was the last time Iron Maiden had a former member joining them on stage? I can only think of one occasion: Donington 1992.
Because it would be cool and special, and Blaze is still good live. And I doubt we will see a reunion with former members live (even for one show), so there's that too. They are good friends with him.
Edit: this won't do Blaze any favors, especially next to Bruce, but that doesn't matter anymore (with the solo career he has now). A one-off event celebrating Maiden's history would be great. Bruce is the best for the band, but every former member of it is an important part of the journey. Blaze always will be associated with Maiden. I think he's better accepted among the fans now.

The latest Metal Hammer includes a piece on the Future Past tour, with short interviews with Bruce, Steve, and Adrian.
Some comments from Adrian about Eddie and the new tour:

''I had mixed feelings about Eddie over the years. I thought, Is this overshadowing the band? It’s a big puppet, is it a bit questionable? We’ve had a few really dodgy Eddies over the years... Fortunately - and, we suspect, as the live, on-stage Eddies got better and better as time went on. With this new show, we’ve found a great balance. It’s got a modern edge with the screens, and the Eddies look really good. The walk-ons look great! The big Eddie looks powerful.
It’s a complex set. Coming out and opening with Caught Somewhere In Time is a real handful. It’s difficult to settle yourself down in front of an audience that just wants you to go mad all the time
''.
