So I finally heard images and words and I didn't like it much. I loved Metropolis though. I like Awake a lot more. Is there something I'm missing?

Nope, give it time. I heard Images and Words after listening to Scenes From a Memory. I really like it now so it grows on you. Same thing happened with Change of Seasons. I LOVE Awake, my favorite DT album.

I think you should listen to Falling Into Infinity. Sure, it's a lot poppier than the albums you mention, but there's Trial Of Tears in it (and a good shorter song like Peruvian Skies) Sad that you didn't like I&W. Under A Glass Moon is VERY good IMO.
I liked that one too.

I&W is an album that (well for me anyway) takes some time to get used too. Its my favourite DT album and in my top 5 overall. I find all the songs to be of a very high standard.

Lol woops, thanks for pointing that out :D

And having said that, Awake took a long time to click for me too.

I liked Awake instantly, but it gets boring toward the end.

yea they're good but that album just drags a lot. I think the Trilogy on that album is the worst part. But I think most people like it a lot,

Dream Theater have announced a couple of shows in England prior to their headlining appearance at High Voltage Festival. Hopefully they'll come back and do more shows later in the year (preferably playing in Glasgow on October 12th, for continuity's sake). If they added extra July dates it would a logistical nightmare trying to go since Iron Maiden and Judas Priest are touring the UK at the same time.

So I have Awake and Images And Words now. What should I get next? (And if it helps, out of the 2 I prefer Awake)

Agreed. Images and Words is a grower. I didn't like it at all when I first heard it, now I play it more than metropolis only because metropolis is a a trip and I rarely have the time to sit for 70+ minutes to enjoy the whole thing.

Is that the one with Constant Motion? If it is, That is the one I have been considering.

My favorite is The Ministry of Lost Souls. Great mood, great build and conclusion... Very solid album overall. When I listen to Black Clouds and Silver Linings I only listen to the first and last track...
