Here's my attempt of translation..

Bruce Dickinson, the frontman of the legendary British heavy metal band Iron Maiden, flew in today to the Sarajevo International Airport to continue the filming of the documentary "Scream For Me Sarajevo".

This documentary, produced by Prime Time from Sarajevo, is conceived about the 20. anniversary of Dickinson's concert in war swept Sarajevo. Filming has begun in December of last year, and has continued today, confirmed Adnan Ćuhara, the director of Prime Time Productions.

During the war, the Iron Maiden leader, despite the warning from UN that they cannot guarantee his safety, came to Sarajevo, and on December 14, 1994 in BKC, for a moment returned the hope and smile on Sarajevo's citizens faces.

The film tells a story how the idea of the rock star's and his band's visit in Sarajevo under siege was born, about the arrival in Sarajevo, his stay in war torn city, the concert itself and the departure of the city. These events are described, from the time distance of 20 years, by the protagonists of the concert, including the band members, drummer Alex Elena and bass player Chris Dale, the UN peace force corps members, British officers Trevor Gibson and Martin Morris, as well as the few "Sarajevers" who, thanks to Dickinson and his band, at least for a short time that night managed to forget the horrors of war and devastation that were a part of their everyday life.

According to Ćuhara, the film will take Dickinson to authentic locations like 20 years ago, like Tunel spasa, BKC, etc

He will stay in BiH capital till Tuesday.

It starts like this:

Back when I was in Bruce Dickinson's band, I woke up way too early one day with the phone ringing. It was Bruce.

"Morning!" he said chirpily. I looked through the curtains. He was right.

"Yeah, morning!" I agreed.

"We've got another gig come in," he said.

"Great news," I replied. I love doing gigs.

"It's Sarajevo," he said. This was back in 1994 and even in my blurred mind alarms bells started ringing.

"Aren't they having a war?" I asked.

"Yeah, sort of... but it's all good. We're under UN protection and we might get a go in a tank!" he enthused. "Are you up for it?"

"Errr.... OK then," I tailed off. It was like interrogation under sleep depravation. I'd have said anything to go back to bed right then and besides, I had always wanted a go in a tank.

Yours truly at Split Airport

When I woke up properly a bit later I thought about the strange conversation. Apparently it wasn't a dream. We were going to do a gig in war-torn Bosnia.

But it hadn't been in the news for a while and surely Bruce wouldn't be going anywhere properly dangerous. He's far from stupid. Most likely the war must have quietened down since the UN peacekeeping force had arrived... or so I thought.

Btw I never knew he went to Sarajevo during the war. Would have been a bit complicated getting to that venue of course

Yes, he needed to fly through SPU which was the only international airport in Croatia operating 'normally' throughout wartime. From there he was taken to Sarajevo, besieged, with an escape/entrance tunnel operated by UNPROFOR staff allowed by goddamn Chetniks, but only for explicitly allowed personnel, no public. My aunt was one of them, back then a vice president of Bosnian Helsinki Committee.

By the way, I've read that interview a long time ago, and even before that I knew Inertia was the song about the experience. The followers of his career should really read the every interview on Book Of Hours webpage :)

IRON MAIDEN singer Bruce Dickinson just spent a couple of days in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was his second visit to the city after 21 years. The first time he was there, Sarajevo was under siege, cut off from the world, its citizens brutally terrorized by shootings, bombing and starvation, with electricity and water supply being nothing short of a luxury. Bruce and his solo band drove through the frontlines and ultimately played a show for the people trapped in the city. What this gig meant to the people and how it changed Bruce and his band will be told in the documentary film "Scream For Me Sarajevo", which just finished shooting.

Radio Sarajevo show "The Aebyss" had the immense pleasure and honor to welcome Bruce in its studio, where they talked about the upcoming film, his impressions of the city today and, of course, the upcoming IRON MAIDEN tour in support of the band new album, "The Book Of Souls".

The first part of the interview will air as part of tonight's edition of "The Aebyss", with the second part to follow next week.

"The Aebyss" broadcast times:

9:05-10:30 p.m. CET (Berlin/Sarajevo)
8:05-9:30 p.m. GMT
4:05-5:30 p.m. EST
3:05-4:30 p.m. CST
1:05-2:30 p.m. PST

You can listen to the program online, regardless of your location, at RadioSarajevo.ba.

I'm bored tonight, so I found back the Anthology DVD and put on the Dive dive live. Wow, there some energy on stage there!

Janick is totally crazy, and Bruce owns the stage, and the drummer is nuts to, while the bass player moves just as much as Ian Hill! :-D

From March 2013 :

Uli told me of course before, 'There might be a chance that Bruce Dickinson is coming up, and we have to jam with him, and you will be on stage with him singing his background vocals.' We wanted to do 'Mistreated' and 'Black Night,' and even maybe if he's in the mood for 'Run to the Hills'. So we were jamming that Run to the Hills song the night before. It didn't work out, because he was working with Roy Z the whole day doing this solo record, and there wasn't any chance for him to sing live. I woke up, and I heard this really strong British accent in the back of the bus, so I came in and he was sitting there. He was really a gentleman, really down to earth, and we were chatting a bit and having a couple pictures.

I don't think it's been posted before, used 'uli roth' search on thread - no results. I got to it through Wikipedia references on Roy Z page. The last sentence there implies that Uli Jon Roth will collaborate on the new Dickinson solo effort;

In March 2013, news leaked that Roy was once again working with Bruce Dickinson and that the project would also involve former Scorpions guitarist Uli Jon Roth[11] with whom both Z and Dickinson have performed live on different occasions.[12]

At the turn of the century , much has been speculated about a partnership involving Rob Halford , Bruce Dickinson and Geoff Tate . The project even had a name : The Three Tremors . But agendas incompatibilities caused everything to be left out. But the lead singer of Judas Priest still harbor hope.

At least in parts . " I love the disc that Bruce did with Roy Z and love we could record a together. Really. I'm talking about without having plans in mind, but it would be something I would do . However , the priority is always Judas Priest , with whom I will write again soon. But then , who knows , "said Metal God to BraveWords.com .

I wonder if there ever will be a song or album by those three guys. They are all so busy and don't have much spare time outside of their main bands.

I remember that press photo from about 2000, how excited everyone was :-D

I think that this is the only time the three of them have played together publicly (I guess there have been rehearsals):

Roy Z linked this on facebook page, I thought I would share it with you here on this forum.
