Anybody up for a forum collaboration?

Seconded Lightning Strikes Twice.
I'll start learning ATG too.

And then sample the toms in your kit afterwards with close mics (one per drum) with mono Overhead = Playroom for Yax. Have faith.

I'm not sure what you intend to do with samples. Could you be more specific?

I'll continue to work on a drum track, but I'm not down with having my performance altered with samples. Is that what you mean to do?

Switched to working up a single kick version. Just taking out the other kick, once the single kick is nailed I'll consider putting that left foot back in.

Another half dozen practice runs should get me close.

If we're definitely sticking with Alex, I highly recommend half or full-step down tuning. Or it'll be an instrumental 'less someone else wants to take on Bruce Bruce. :)

You wouldn't even have to downtune. You could just transpose the song to whatever the new key is (probably D).

Also, I think we should set up a time to meet in chat and discuss how to divide parts.

I'm going out right now, I might be able to come on when I get home though.

@Yax or @Mosh or anyone who could whip this up: we need a reference track for Alexander. We need someone to overdub a click, over the spoken intro, so we can nail our entrance. It's a triple meter, so 6 beats (with accents on 1 and 4) would be ideal. Also drive that volume up as much as you can, it's gotta be nice and loud in my headphones when I'm drumming.

As I understand, we will do the song with the exact same tempo as the original one, then? So I can just record my stuff with the original song playing in the background.

I'd wait for SMX so we can compliment his feel instead of Nicko's.

Having played Maiden basslines for a quarter century and counting: there's not much "complementing the feel" in Maiden. You have your line and you play it.

However, if you truly wish to wait and compliment my feel, that's fine too I guess...

Next step is to take Mosh's click intro and get that sucker on the start of a full-length Alex track.

Who's going to do the spoken intro?
