Anybody up for a forum collaboration?

@Yax - if possible keep track of which takes you use at which time in the final version. I also have video for all three takes and would like that information for video editing.

I'll record in D. I have a couple other projects going so I can't get to it until next week or so.

So lets talk about leads. @Saapanael wants Dave's solo at 6:30 and I'd like Adrian's solo at 5:30.

Here are the other ones:
  • Intro at :20
  • 1:08
  • 1:41 Octave harmony
  • 2:48 twin harmony
  • 4:02
  • 4:43
  • 5:06
  • 5:25 harmony
  • 8:01 (this is a repeat of an earlier harmony but I'm thinking if we have 4 guitars, it'd make sense to have two people play it the first time and two different people the second time).
Since Saap and I claimed the solos, I think it's fair that @MrKnickerbocker and @Zare get first crack at choosing their leads and Saap and I will choose between the rest. There are 12 leads here (including harmonies) so we should all get 3.

As for rhythm parts, I don't think we should all just double each other, so when we work out leads lets divide that as well. Especially for the verses we should think of something more interesting than just all 4 of us playing the same part.

I'll gladly take the leads at 1:08, 5:06 and the repeat at 5:25 (same line as the first). I'm also down for doing the final harmony repeat at 8:01, if we want to mix it up as Mosh suggests.

Honestly, the vocals are going to be a lot for me, so I'd be very happy to take those few leads and leave the rhythm parts to everyone else. That cool?

Oh right, forgot 5:25 was a repeat. That's perfect then. We'll count it as 12 leads, everybody gets 3.

That works for me. Maybe we could have two guitars doing rhythm parts and one doing the textural guitar synth stuff.

Don't forget to double track the rhytm guitars, and don't forget to get me clean DI of the guitars.
If you use a hardware wah wah, then pull the DI right after the wah.

I'll have a bass and drum track up after SMX finishes the bass.

God damn, the bass (and rhythm guitar) behind Dave's solo is the definition of simple yet epic. Of course, the same goes for many solos in Metal.

Yup, I'm just a bit busy...

I can take clean intro at :20 and/or H's solo at 5:06. Also going to record rhythm guitar track for verse-bridge-chorus part,
Also, few of us (all preferably) should take a shot at 4:02 solo , and pick out best one afterwards.

Edit: new link up soon.

Drums with bass.

All guitar tracks should be synced to that specific starting point, so when I open them in the DAW I won't have to move stuff around.
