Jer
A window to the west, a blazing star above
Yes.Oh yeah, Jer, are there any songs that topped 9/10?

Another faster song. I like it.
Harsh verse, catchy but shaky chorus. Nice slower bridge. Solidly good, but not great.
This song also has not the coolest vocals in the couplets but on the other hand it has a nice contrasting, uplifting chorus. The slow midpiece gives it just enough variation to like it more than its predecessor.
I'm not as keen on "Savage World." [...] I think Mikee's delivery on the verrses is just a tick outside "controlled" and it makes it nearly impossible to understand him. [...] The chorus is solid, though, and I like the spacey breakdown before the solo section.
LOL. I was just trying to use colors that evoked the album covers, and then more neutral colors for the non-album tracks.Another note: you’re using a wonderful group of colors and the overall rankings seem bright and lively. I’m so gonna copy some of your style for the Blaze countdown.
Yeah, that’s what I try to do as well, but I really thought you knocked it out of the park here, lol.LOL. I was just trying to use colors that evoked the album covers, and then more neutral colors for the non-album tracks.
And that’s where some creativity comes in! I’m already formulating color scheme plans, so never fear.I suppose if you tried to do that for the Blaze albums you'd wind up with everything just being black, except red for Blood & Belief and maybe grey for the Infinite Entanglement trilogy, which would be hard to parse...
This is about searching for something tangible in a very materialistic world.
Good song once again.
great song
Nice funky rhythms through the verse and pre-chorus. Not a big fan of the verse vocals, but the pre-chorus and chorus are great. Sweet solo and a very cool and funky instrumental break.
This was a combination thing – I wanted to talk about suicide and also the fact that we are constantly trying to achieve our own personal level of happiness or utopia but whenever we reach our goals we find that sometimes they aren’t quite what we imagined – hence a quarter to heaven rather than heaven itself.
Strong verse with nice guitar stylings and a great buildup through the pre-chorus. The chorus unfortunately loses that head of steam, but is still pretty good.
This one is good too. The chorus isn't as good as the pre-chorus, but as a whole the song is quite strong.
This was about drugs – fairly self explanatory, I just had a cool line and we wrapped a song around it basically. “Addiction slowly wrapped around the place I once thought solid ground – and now my highs just bring me down…”
Cool industrial intro, love the dark feel. Strong verse, pretty good pre-chorus, and a great chorus. Nice instrumental break with a sweet bluesy solo. Digging Andy Makin's vocals.
Yeah, this is different from the previous album. Production is slicker, the vocalist is more grungy... I like it.
Classic, straightforward rock song [...] really good.
A soft, moody intro leads into a nice verse, then kicks up the heaviness. (Hmm, it sounds like Adrian reused parts of this in "22 Acacia Avenue"!) Good verse, OK chorus. Decent harmonized guitar break followed by a very good solo.
Next up: McKay sues Iron Maiden LLP in the name of Adrian Smith for plagiarising the Urchin song Countdown in the Iron Maiden song 22 Accacia Avenue. The result: Adrian Smith pays 400 000 pounds to himself, while Steve Harris pays 400 000 pounds to McKay, presuming that he will give the money to mr. Smith.
Don't you find that ["Countdown"] sticks out for [its] melodic quality?
Are the "Countdown" tracks gonna win it from Urchin?
You could have listened to Countdown at least.
"She's a Roller" dates from the Urchin days and part of it live can be seen in the video 12 Wasted Years.
Always liked She's a Roller
Adrian's on lead vocals. Strong verse, decent pre-chorus and chorus, good solo. Moderately catchy.
I'd be sad to see She's a Roller go. It may not be a complex song, but it's very catchy and it's of high sentimental value to me.
[One of] my fav. (currently).
It's that ridiculous vocal that irritates me [...] Screamiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing. It sounds a bit dumb, very low and fake. [...] The "scream into the night" part is pretty good though. And the instrumental part as well [...] Too bad the song is so one dimensional, I prefer the stuff with more variation, depth or melody.
Another badass yet melodic riff starts off this steamroller. Aggressive verse, neat off-kilter melodic pre-chorus, and an even more aggressive chorus. [...] Very cool.
Intense. Great title track.
