O man.... I like Uruguay but this is costing me lots of points.... I had Portugal in the quarter final, in the semi final and the f*cking final.

Messi and Ronaldo gone on the same day.
 
Ronaldo and Messi both out in one day. Maybe we will finally get a new Ballon D'Or winner from whichever team wins the World Cup. Maybe Harry Kane if football comes home.

Completely agree. Mexico needs to take the hard lessons learned from the Sweden loss and turn it up to 11.

I'm glad to see Portugal go out. Uruguay will be tough opposition for France. They won't leave the same wide-open spaces that Argentina did, and we saw how France struggled in the Euros final against the inferior version of Uruguay.
 
I agree, but I think France are still the favorites.

I had Uruguay beating Portugal and I think the weak opponent argument works for them as well. Portugal is not a great team. They scrambled their way to the Euro 2016 title with almost no wins and almost lost out to Iran in the group stage.

So do I, but I think France will still find Uruguay to be tougher opponents than Argentina. If lethargic group stage France shows up then they'll lose. The potential of a semi-final between Brazil or Belgium and today's France is exciting though.
 
Uruguay is clearly a better team than Argentina and better equipped against France. No argument there.

I highly doubt we see the lethargic group stage France in the remainder of the tournament. They have a tendency to play to the opposition.

I'm sure Uruguayans would be happy to take some of the attacking players from Argentina's squad. Not the defence though.

I reckon Spain will beat Russia 3-1 tomorrow. Spain's defence is pretty poor so Russia will get chances but the final group match against Uruguay showed how mediocre this Russian squad is.

Croatia to win 2-0 against Denmark. I don't know an awful lot about the Danish squad but from what I've seen Christian Eriksen is the only player good enough for the Croatian squad.

Unfortunately I won't be able to watch tomorrow's matches as I'll be on trains and a plane from mid-afternoon. If either match goes to extra time then I might be able to catch some of the matches at the airports, or maybe at a pub in London.
