Oh I definitely expected pace to cause Argentina trouble, I just expected Giroud to have more of an impact. They barely needed him.

Messi came to life as soon as Aguero was brought on. He actually looked like Barcelona Messi. Probably the last time we see him in an Argentina shirt.

Stopping France on the counter is easier said than done. It's not just their pace, their ability to start counters is immense as well, because they have a lot of ball thieves on the squad.

Yup, true. They can field Mbappe/Griezmann/Dembele and be a counter machine.

But if someone can stop most of them, France has no hope. The can't play on the ball.
