Your Maiden blasphemy

Yes. I like Paschendale, but it's a 4 star song to me at best. 3.5-4. Dance of Death is 4.5-5 ish in my book.

So monotone and repetitve, especially in the last couple of minutes. Great intro and nice solo, but that absolutely does not make it a good song.

It comes off better if you keep playing the album, with the next song being even worse.

It's the musical version of "get rid of a headache by stubbing your toe, you'll forget all about your head". Listened to a bad song? Just put on an even worse song and forget all about the first one!

Dance of Death is quite good actually. That is if you remove the 3 minute intro and the similar outro. Paschendale is an epic wonnabe IMO. I really expected something more that overused chord progressions.
Ok the solo part is quite good but I believe the main issue is that it sounds alike an expanded 5 minute-worth-of-musik song to me.

As for FITS, yes it gets boring after some point but it has got one of the best intros,solos,after-solo-melody and vocal lines I heard in a Maiden song.

So I just chose the lesser of three evils.

Did you also edit some bits off Face in the Sand? Then your opinion is not valid.

edit:
And do you have an edited version of the Dance of Death album? If yes, then your rating doesn't count either.

Haha,

I actually judged all songs with all their parts. And yes I also edited DOD.Not as much as I edited BNW.....but this is a different discussion.

I am not sure about that. Because of your habit, to create your own versions of songs, I'd argue that your view has dispersed because you have two ideas of Maiden. Real Maiden and Edited Maiden.

I decided to edit some songs after listening to them for years. So I actually have a quite good impression of the original albums. I think the process worked quite good for some of them. However since I started doing it like 10 years ago my only issue is that the sound quality I got for some of them is not as good...as it was a training on the job for me and the SW was quite old b ack inthe day

I don't know guys, maybe I am just a whining f!@k. I just think that if Maiden paid a bit more attention to their structures we would be getting 3-4 classics per album. This obsession to actually stretch everything just to the limit is beyond me. The guys are full of ideas. They would have been able to create splentid albums anyway. The epics turned - from 7 minutes long songs with a free style development - to 11 minute songs that most of the time repeat parts and structures. Even ROTAM that is actually 13:43 minutes long contains so many different passages and goes beyond the typical song structure. WTWWB is trying to move away from the chorus/verse cliche but has one of the most annoying intros....oh well!
