You mean the plodding, interminable "moody" intros and recorded-in-a-dustbin production?
SOTC is indeed brilliant, and LOTF works well too, but IMO everything else on TXF ranges from 'potentially decent idea executed badly' to 'get on with it, Steven.' By comparison, the peaks on VXI i.e. Clansman, Futureal and maybe Lightning Strikes Twice go much further to counter-acting the album's stinkers than their counterparts on TXF.

I think this is somewhat true. There are people with strong opinions that really enjoy other songs. Probably the one that gets the most acclaim is Como - as @Black Abyss Babe noted - but most of the other tracks have at least someone who really likes them.
 
For me, all VXI tracks are really good ones, maybe apart from The Educated Fool; even TAATG I like a lot, and certainly far more than the whole of TXF excluding the first three tracks.
 
I get the love for VXI (even if it is my least favorite Maiden album, I still like it very much), but better than TXF? No way. TXF is a brilliant album all the way through, unlike VXI, which, despite having some brilliant songs in there, has its weaker spots as well, like the dry production (I like the production on TXF), and some (most) lyrics which are not nearly as good as the ones on TXF. Those, among other minor issues.

Not to mention the phrasing, and the chorus of "Lightning Strikes Twice" which has a few too many syllables for Blaze (or any singer, for that matter) to handle properly without overdubbing.
