Wow, that's a long way geoff! 1800 miles for me would be from Pittsburgh to about Salt Lake City (or maybe Denver, going from the top of my head). That's a drive. A plane flight would only be like, 4 hours or so. Are you driving or flying geoff?

I'll go flying... if i were driving i would miss many days of my work.  :)

No Parayer for the Dying InterCity Express Tour in 1992 at Birmingham NEC. I was really gutted that Adrian had left the band before i got to see them. I remember the long drive back up the M6 motorway from Birmingham to Manchester. My neck was aching so much I could barely hold my head up. i had to phone in sick at work the next morning.

Sadly I had a mental illness from 1992 to 1998 (curiously while Adrian was missing) and I didnt see or purchase anything Maiden related during that time. And yes I realise now the error of my ways.

I'm glad to report I am now sane again and have seen the guys play at the Download festival (twice), at Nottingham Arena, Sheffield Arena, and the Reading Festival. I am eagerly awaiting July to come as I am going to the gig at Twickenham Stadium and can't bloody wait!!

I may be 36 two days after the gig, but I'll be at the front showing the next generation of Maiden fans how to rock!!!! Come on!!!!!!!!!! :yey:

Wow, my first Iron Maiden concert was also my first concert ever! It was the World Slavery Tour January 14 1985 in Hartford Connecticut....and for my first show ever I could not have asked for a better time! The ticket cost 13.50!
My seats were in Section 2 on the floor which is dead center and I was 8 rows back from the stage! I still have the ticket stub.....If and when Maiden comes my way again I doubt I could ever be so lucky to get such great seats again and even if I did there is no way I would be paying 13.50! Anyway, as we all know that concert and tour was just unreal.....I have been asking for years why that tour had never been put out on dvd....the best tour they ever did and all I had was my cd and vhs tape.....finally....LAD on dvd!! Awesome! I hope I can relive the past when Maiden comes to the U.S. in '08!!!

I saw them in El Paso TX on SOmewhere on Tour. Also the first concert I was allowed to drive myself to. If I remember correctly, Vinny Vincent's INvasion opened for them....that was dissapointing! I was front row center for VV....lights dimmed after intermission, and suddenly the swell of people shoved this 140 lbs high schooler about 20 people back and to the left. Still an awesome show, but my viewpoint was no longer optimal!!

For my first post, I guess I will share my first Maiden concert experience.  My brother got me tickets as a Christmas present for "Somewhere on Tour".  The show was in January 1987 at The Spectrum in Philadelphia, PA.  Yngwie Malmsteen was the opening act.  We had nosebleed seats, unfortunately, but the show was quite amazing!  I was always a big fan of the Somewhere in Time album, and listened to it a lot when it was released (I wasn't even thirteen yet when I went to this show, but I had been listening to Maiden since just after TNOTB came out).  They played some great tracks on this tour, like Children of the Damned, Phantom of the Opera, Rime of the Ancient Mariner, and four songs from Time - CSIT, WY, HCW and SIASL.  The stage show was awesome on that tour as well!

A year and a half later, we got tickets to see the SSOASS tour, again at The Spectrum (with Ace Frehley opening), but our seats were on Dave's side in the first floor section!  Another awesome show with the great opening track, Moonchild!!!

Happy to be here... I'm a loooong time Maiden fan and I really hope they hit the east coast for the new tour!  Last time I saw them was on the BNW tour, which I just realized was like 8 years ago already.  Damn!  I really need to see them soon!

Download Festival 2007! Great concert! also filmed for dvd! :D:D  so it was a huge thing for me.. first show and filmed for dvd.. cant wait till they release it \m/
UP THE IRONS

First time? That would be september 10 in 1999. The Ed Hunter Tour, with the famous Aces High as a starter (I know the speech comes first).

The only regrets I have is that I never before went to see them and too bad so sad we had seating tickets and the (very big) person behind me was thinking that we all had to sit.

I have been going to each concert in Holland since and sure will be in Assen this year.

First gig for me was Earls Court, London on Dance of Death tour 12/12/2003.

First overseas gig was Dusseldorf 17/06/07 on A Matter of the Beast tour. I'm making sure I get a few more in this year in new places. B)

FOTD Tour in 19992

Are you from the future?  Are all of their heads in glass jars?  j/k

I thought I had posted in here, but my first gig was Seventh Son tour, (Foro told me the date and setlist once) back in 1988.  Cedar Rapids, IA!!

18.7.2008: Helsinki Olympic Stadium, Finland.  45,000 Finnish fans, in the middle of the summer, and the Somewhere Back in Time tour.  Could there be a better first Maiden gig?

Hello to all, I am new on this forum. :D

I am going to see Maiden for the first time on August the 4th in Romania, they were only once before this year, in 1995 but they were with Blaze Bayley so it is our first chance to see Bruce and Adrian

My first, and so far the only Maiden gig: Friday July 18th 2008, Helsinki Finland  :innocent:

The set list was great, but still it was too predictable. The Trooper, Can I Play With Madness and Heaven Can Wait were the worst of the best. All of those are just too overrated and overplayed. Still one of my least favorite songs, Run To The Hills, KICKED ASS live. The whole stadium sang along and the atmosphere was just great. Fear of the Dark and ROTAM were great too.
One positive surprise was Moonchild, which was the first encore.

Pluses:
+Great atmosphere
+Bruce
+Set list, espescially FotD, ROTAM, Moonchild, RTTH, and 2 Minutes to Midnight
+I was so close to the stage (10 meters or something)
+Good weather too

Minuses:
-The special quests (Lauren was ok, but Avenged Sevenfold sucked imo)
-The guitars were a bit too quiet
-Trooper, CIPWM, Heaven Can Wait
