What's the matter with FOTD?

Seriously man, why are you not listening to four Iron Maiden albums? If you haven't got round to it, fair enough; but it's a bit odd if you never intend to visit them. This is a quarter of their output; you know, those other guys that are in the band besides Bruce Dickinson...

Besides, all this time FotD could have been 5th last! :p

I have listened to them before, but I don't care for the albums at all.

This said in a topic where I'm expanding upon my sudden love of Fear of the Dark, perhaps another listen wouldn't hurt.

I don't know, Virtual XI might hurt a bit...
I was going to say this as a PM, but i will say it publicly because everyone deserves my opinion :duckie: ....

I'm still not sure if sometimes you're being a douche or simply being funny/sarcastic/ironic/whatever the hell i may find amusing, but one thing's for sure, you're always entertaining. And here's a cheers for that

For me, it's far and away their most inconsistent album. It's also the worst example they've ever had of trying to fit current music trends.

Well, I say it's their most diverse album and I love it absolutely.

It's not my #1, neither #3, but I respect the album and I like it a lot. There are absolutely amazing songs.

In my current love affair with the album it's managed to sneak as high as 4th place. Lots of short, high energy songs that are a good contrast to the bands longer, more progressive music, and well worth the time investment of making it click.

I don't know, Virtual XI might hurt a bit...

"Don't you think I'm a saviour, don't you think I could save you, don't you think I could save your life..."

This one is completely on you Brucie.:p

Fear's a step up from No Prayer in terms of quality and production, but it's still very inconsistent, and really lacks the complete package value a lot of Maiden's other albums have. Weekend Warrior is an abomination, The Apparition is just as bad, and there are a few forgettable songs also.

However, I feel there's enough good stuff on the album, like the title track, ATSS, Wasting Love and BQOBD that makes listening to it worth it.

I was actually a bit shocked aswell, i been listening to Maiden for a long time.

However i have never been a part of a comunity, i just listen to it on my own and didnt even know they had forums and such. In my head i allways thought FOTD was considred the best album amongst fans. I was wrong it looks like.

My personal opionion is that its great. I LOVE it when im drunk, i allways use Afraid to interduce girls for Maiden. I really dont know why its hated, maybe its about Bruce on hes way, hes so called "raspy" voice. i really dont know. but i fucking love it. from start to finish.

The thing that gets me with complaints about his "raspy voice" is that it seems most pronounced on BQOBD, one of the few tracks from this album people generally seem to like.
