Which country will you root for?

2nd half was definitely more interesting. Penalty was little foggy, it wouldn't be travesty if it wasn't called. However, France who is considerate candidate for final/winner of EURO didn't show any supremacy.

Predictions for tommorow:
Albania VS. Switzerland - 0:2
Wales VS Slovakia - 1:0
England VS Russia - 1:1

I'm not happy too, but it's hard to say France didn't earn it... That last goal was nice. But Romania as the underdog showed a lot. That's why I think draw would be fair.

My local team -Gençlerbirliği- has only two players in the entire tournament. And we're already on the goalscoring board with a representative. Get in.

Had no doubts he'd score the penalty, never seen the guy miss a penalty for Gençlerbirliği.

First game of tomorrow between Switzerland and Albania will be pretty interesting. Swiss squad features a whopping 7 players of Albanian ancestry: Xherdan Shaqiri, Granit Xhaka, Admir Mehmedi, Blerim Dzemaili, Valon Behrami, Shani Tarashaj and Nico Elvedi. Granit will go up against his brother Taulant, who plays for the Albanian side.

Regardin France's first goal yesterday: I'd say it was a 50-50 decision whether to give the goalkeeper a free kick or not. Had he been a split second earlier there, so that he got his hands close to the ball before Giroud could push his arms away, I'd say it would've been a clear free kick. But I think it is a bit over the top to say it was unfair that France took the lead. Marginal refereeing decisions are a part of good or bad luck, just like a deflected shot or a missed pass.

That aside: Apart from the first 10 minutes, France were better, created more chances, and deserved the win.

Today's games: I have stated earlier that I think Albania got to the tournament unfairly, as I think both Albania and Serbia should've been punished after that game in Belgrade. Especially in retrospect, when we know that the drone guy was celebrated in Albania. But now that they are in the tournament, I hope they bring out some passionate displays of football. As @The Flash mentioned above, many ex-Albanians in the Swiss squad. Should be interesting. Too bad I'll miss that game as I'll be traveling home from a work trip this afternoon.

How? Evra clearly hit the Romanian player on the shin. I was cheering for France but I thought the penalty was clear.
Well, he did "hit" him BUT if I've seen it correctly that Romanian player could've not get to the ball and was already "prepared" to fall. It seemed to me like he wanted to get foul and Evra did knee him. Also main referee hesitated (didn't call it imediatelly), 5th referee called it. On the other hand I really hate divers and fouls/penalties being called if it's not clear.
Also 1st France goal could've also been foul if the goalkeaper didn't end on his legs (if it fall on the back or make the impact more theatric) going by that criteria. But he should have been more safer/agressive in that run out.
Overall looking, Romania did present good defence but France deserved to win overall looking. However, if they cointinue with the same attidute, no way they're going to the finals.

I really think he almost had the ball. His hands were closer to it than Giroud's head. He certainly would have hit it. Look what happens (put it on pause just before/when it happens). Impossible when your arms are moved away (with the elbow) like that.

Closer than I first thought, I'll give you that, and I am more inclined to agree with you that the decision was wrong. But I maintain there's nothing unfair about it. Giroud tries to win the duel (and succeeds), the ref perhaps doesn't see the details of the situation (or he thinks Giroud stayed within the rules) and it is a decision where the referee needs to use his judgement. Some think it is a free kick, others don't. Perhaps the referee would've ruled differently if he had a different angle. Shit happens.

I understand you guys are still angry for what happened but I still say that I am glad the Albanian players were not so severely punished, that they would be banned(!) from the European Championship. That goes too far.

And look at the results in that group. A very interesting team, they deserve to be there.
I am not sure who I support this afternoon, I hope both countries will do well in the tournament.

Today's games will be watched outdoors, at a beer garden with friends. Many beers will be had, so before I forget where this thread was, let me say I'm rooting for Wales and England today and a tiny little bit for Switzerland.
See you in the drubl thread.

Literally waking up in the middle of this.

I think 1-0 Switzerland is where it ends.
England 2:0 Russia
Wales 1:3 Slovakia

You heard it here first. I'm 100% so far.
