Re: Tron's Maiden Countdown!
#23 - Satellite 15... The Final Frontier - Im a big fan of Satellite 15, It sounds perfect to intro the album and is distant and echoing giving the impression of deep space (sound doesnt travel in blahbah bbj

) and has a heavy industrial feeling akin to a satellite or some great machine, the wailing guitar creates the scifi comicbook feel of fear, horror and anticipation then Bruce in giving it the whole performance and the fearfull point of view of someone stuck out in the void. It has a sense of desperation that intensified every verse in feeling along with the growing drum rythm. I wasnt sure of it live but it was brutal.
Then a little guitar rythm and drum beat into the rocker side of the song, only made better by the intro building it up. It deals with a story a bit better than recent short openers and follows on the lost mood from Sat15 brilliantly but becoming more upbeat. Its filled with brilliant riffs and the solos are incredible... just wow The pacing of the chorus perfectly suits what we saw in the video and you cant help but imagine a space ship maneuvering to that riff that i liken to the building of G's
#22 - Revelations - Im starting to find it overrated nowerdays, and live it doesnt really do anything for me. It should soon drop to at least below Infinite Dreams. It begins brilliant and melodic before that drum section into the harsher area of the song where the guitars and bass run away back to a slow melody for Bruce to bring over a really amazing lyric section that is gentle and with thought but creeps into a harsher sound
the secret of the hangman... then another heavy few sections before returning to the structure of the gentle lyrics. It continues like this until the instrumental section which is brilliant with the drums creating a brilliant pace and atmosphere with the bass to allow the guitars to fly off and the result is that the guitars are a bit ott for me but it all comes together to a much better rythm before rejoining Brucey and the original beat. Lyricaly i think its insane. it is so cryptic and filled with mad imagery while having a beauty of a note while for me the instruments dont step up the mark causing it to drop short (also the song structures a bit too repetetive and not for the better)
#21 - Wasted Years - A great song, high starting riffs with the bass peeking in and then probably the first of their advisory tracks to the 10 commandments of the church of Iron Maiden. It has a great message and all parts hold their own considering its so short. The bass has some good parts building up the song, the drums drive it all the way through. Theres as much iconic guitar work here as anywhere else and the soloing is freaking amazing after being introduced by more dragged notes just so we knew what was coming before it soared away. And then bruce is at a great form so i can look past that SiT vocal sound im not such a fan of
Album #6 - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son -
As far as im concerned not the best opened with Moonchild but in such an experimenting time it was to be expected and just gives a feel of how they were transforming. Then infinite dreams, can i play with madness, the evil that men, the clairvoyant... all standout songs and lift the album up. The album retains massive complexity in the music while also showing a wonderous mystical sound which seems to be somewhat of a theme with many songs having a theme based around a greater power or mystics.
The melodies are amazing, the drums and bass dont take as much control here and Bruceys at his best. 7.64
