The Trooper is a classic but offers less than Sea of Madness in terms of melody. TT is not much more than a couple of tasty bluesy licks while SoM is an elaborate display of descending and ascending licks that fit like hand and glove with the backing chords.

I really enjoy Sea of Madness, but this match belongs to the iconic Trooper solo and the votes here are insane.

RotAM sounds better but SiaSL is the better composition.

I prefer both the composition and flow of Mariner. I'm not as fond of the highly stylised SIT solos.

It's really hard to vote against Rime, but Stranger is just a monster.

I remember listening to Rime over and over when PS first came out and air guitaring to Dave's solo. At the time it may have been my favorite Maiden solo and is still probably my third of fourth fave by him. BUT.....now we must say goodbye to this solo because against the masterpiece that is SIASL it is doomed.
