Thingfish's Acoustic Maiden Covers (new track added : 05/10/08)

Re: Thingfish's Acoustic Maiden Covers (new track added : 24/04/07)

I do like them, but they are ostensibly parts of jam sessions which I doubt I'd recreate faithfully, they are too unique as well :)

Cool Thingfish!
And very funny as well, hehe.

Re: Thingfish's Acoustic Maiden Covers (new track added : 24/04/07)

Time for one of the all-time most classic Maiden tracks...ever! For a the past couple of weeks I've been drawn back to this track and found myself playing its intro over and over, so I just had to record it! Hope you all enjoy it!

'Children Of The Damned'!!!

Both Fortunes of War and Children of the Damned are good renditions - interesting use of the knees for the percussion in Children of the Damned.

The X Factor sounds really good - throughout - done acoustically.

Re: Thingfish's Acoustic Maiden Covers (new track added : 02/05/07)

Thanks, albie. I thought this forum had maybe given up on my tracks...you seem the only one left responding  :(

Re: Thingfish's Acoustic Maiden Covers (new track added : 02/05/07)

Nah don't worry Thingfish.  I usually plan on listening to your songs and replying,  but somehow I always don't get that bloody chance to listen to them.  I promise I'll try more .  Keep the good work  :ok:

Re: Thingfish's Acoustic Maiden Covers (new track added : 02/05/07)

Thanks, sneaky, maybe other people listen but don't post, too.

Re: Thingfish's Acoustic Maiden Covers (new track added : 02/05/07)

Don't worry about that. :)

I heard both as well !

Re: Thingfish's Acoustic Maiden Covers (new track added : 02/05/07)

I never know who has heard it unless they post  :(

That's the fate of an artist ;)

...and also, don't forget that we don't have always the time to visit the forum after returning from the work

anyway, maybe this topic should be pinned

Re: Thingfish's Acoustic Maiden Covers (new track added : 02/05/07)

... Also some of us cannot always listen at the place we happen to be in...

But, don't worry I'll catch up.

... And Thingfish's thread should definitely be pinned.  This has been said so many times before.  Why does not a mod do his job.  :P

Re: Thingfish's Acoustic Maiden Covers (new track added : 02/05/07)

Thanks everyone :) Glad you're all still here  :yey:

Yax : That solo is rather difficult to do on an acoustic guitar, especially one which isn't plugged in as hammer-ons are mostly too quiet!

Re: Thingfish's Acoustic Maiden Covers (new track added : 02/05/07)

I really like your version of 'Look for the Truth'. It's almost folky in a way, and it's much better than the original version (which I admit, I don't like that much).

Re: Thingfish's Acoustic Maiden Covers (new track added : 02/05/07)

Well, I've been away for some time, so I have found there are seven (!) new songs, wow :-)

I am the most impressed by your versions of Face in the Sand and Fortunes of War, Thingfish, really great, especially the latter. The Futureal also keeps the power of the original version. I have not heard IM version of Black Bart Blues, so I cannot compare it to your version, which sounds fine to me. Ghost of the Navigator has some interesting effects used on vocals, right? Another great work is done on Children of the Damned, sounds really good, but the original is not among my favourite songs. Well, The Angel and the Gambler is probably not that good as the others, but that is not your fault, I should blame IM. It is too long and repetitive.

It seems your voice improves. And the mandolin is really fine addition to the songs :-)

And I have to thank you. I think it was you who suggested me to buy original IM sheet music and on friday, I bought A Matter of Life and Death sheet music and it is really great to study IM songs from original tabs :-) I wish I could buy The X-Factor, but it seems it is sold out :-(

Re: Thingfish's Acoustic Maiden Covers (new track added : 02/05/07)

Great to have you back as always, Belenor, and I'm glad there were a good number of new songs for your to return to :) Thanks for the compliments as ever!  :D

Tablature is always good to learn the exact solos from the original songs, but I've always learned the Maidenstuff by ear unless there are some especially vague notes I need to work out

I've been feeling a bit ill this week. I must be coming down with something. I hope it's nothing more than a...

'Virus'!!!

:innocent:
