Thingfish's Acoustic Maiden Covers (new track added : 05/10/08)

Re: Thingfish's Acoustic Maiden Covers (new track added : 20/08/06)

That's a very good insight, Forostar.

I know Gigi quite well, and I can assure you that he's a really good bloke. Maybe he was having a bad day? It happens to all of us, doesn't it?

Re: Thingfish's Acoustic Maiden Covers (new track added : 20/08/06)

I would copy the post out for you that he posted complaining about me, but he's deleted the whole thread along with my existence :)

Anyway, I won't let it bother me  ^_^

Actually Thingfish speaks a better french than me. I even thought you were from a french-speaking country when I saw your thread on maiden.ch.

And by the way congratulation your versions. I haven't listened to all of them but I really enjoyed those I've already heard and especially The Thin Line Between Love and Hate which I've listened to 50 times and I can't get tired of it.

I'm flattered, Syl, thankyou!  ^_^

Re: Thingfish's Acoustic Maiden Covers (new track added : 20/08/06)

Well, I've reached song number 50, so I thought it had better be an all-time classic, and what could be more classic than the song Maiden have played at every single show they've ever done? :)

'Iron Maiden' added!!!

^_^ ^_^

Re: Thingfish's Acoustic Maiden Covers (new track added : 25/08/06)

Great timing and great rocky vibration, Thingfish! I really love this song and you added so much movement to it. Nice Paulish grunts and the ending too. :ok:

Re: Thingfish's Acoustic Maiden Covers (new track added : 25/08/06)

Hehe, thanks Serratia! Other people have said I do a passable impression of Paul on the songs he sang, and I like doing his little grunts and the way he finishes off longer notes. Good fun :)

Re: Thingfish's Acoustic Maiden Covers (new track added : 25/08/06)

Really good, very nice guitar work.......it's one of my fave of your covers....

Re: Thingfish's Acoustic Maiden Covers (new track added : 25/08/06)

I like the way you recreate the beginning...what is that in the original?  I can never tell whether it's a bit of movement on the part of Dave or Dennis, or whether it's Paul laughing....

Otherwise, a very accurate depiction of one of Maiden's most (in)famous songs!  I like the way you do 'Arry's bass ditty as well!

Oh, and because I didn't post a comment for the Nomad, I'll write about that as well.  The acoustic version is brilliant, especially the chants and instrumental bit...wonderful!  And the Chipmunk version...well, it's just f'ing hilarious! :ok: :ok: :ok:

Re: Thingfish's Acoustic Maiden Covers (new track added : 25/08/06)

Excellent as usual, Thingfish. I especially love the "drums" towards the end at about 3.11  :okok: This is one of the best chipmunk versions in my opinion, sounds mentally hilarious ;)

I always assumed it was a bit of movement on the guitar. But now Thingfish has recreated it with, what sounds like his voice, it throws it all into doubt.

Any road, great version as usual Thingfish and nice vocals (still I've yet to delve into the Chipmunk versions - not really sure I want to, I'm more than happy with the other versions). :ok:

Re: Thingfish's Acoustic Maiden Covers (new track added : 25/08/06)

Thank you all, as ever! :)

Yes, I like to pay attention to the intricacies, so I thought I'd add in that bit from the beginning. It is indeed a series of three minor presses of string to fret by whichever guitarist played in the right speaker (Dennis, most likely), and I don't think it was intentional, but it adds to the greatnes of the original!  ^_^ I couldn't reproduce it accurately with the acoustic as it is a sound you'll only get with an electric, so I did indeed just do it with my voice

Raven : As to 'Arry's bass part, he actually plays it an octave above on the bass which equates to the same tone on the acoustic, but he goes down to the lowest C on his bass which I couldn't do on the acoustic, so I had to modify it to suit the guitar. It worked out ok, but I do need to get an acoustic bass!

Glad you enjoyed 'The Nomad' and great to have you listening!

Great indeed! It could not be much more classic. Great guitar work as usual and the same for the vocals. Cheers and have a good one mate!

Re: Thingfish's Acoustic Maiden Covers (new track added : 25/08/06)

Thanks, yax!  ^_^

I was so inspired by the new album, I thought I'd add another new track, and what better than one of the most amazing of all...

'The Longest Day'!!

:o :o :o

Re: Thingfish's Acoustic Maiden Covers (new track added : 28/08/06)

Blimey Thingfish - I've yet to get my copy - I have to wait until Tuesday at the earliest (damn these bank holidays), but it does come with the limited edition DVD. :D

So if you don't mind, I will pass on this until I have had a good listen of AMOLAD (sorry Mav) - A Matter of Life and Death. ;)

Re: Thingfish's Acoustic Maiden Covers (new track added : 28/08/06)

Excellent! After giving it a listen all I can say is amazing, TLD The Longest Day is my favourite track on the album and you're done it tribute here. Yet again its the little touches like the "drums" coming in during the verse that make the song. The "Sliding we go..." part is just as brilliant as the original version. :ok:

Re: Thingfish's Acoustic Maiden Covers (new track added : 28/08/06)

Albie : Yes, I need to wait til Tuesday to get my cd/dvd set too, however...  ;)

Hunlord : I do love those parts, but I would not deign to even suggest that the 'Sliding, we go...' bit in my version is a 100th as good as the one in the original! Albie is in for a major treat!!

^_^

Re: Thingfish's Acoustic Maiden Covers (new track added : 28/08/06)

Just listened to the longest day now……WOW great vocals at the start and chorus has to be one of my favorites yet.

Re: Thingfish's Acoustic Maiden Covers (new track added : 28/08/06)

The Longest Day. A present favourite of Yax, both the original and your version. Your version is great as usual, and the little extra meat on the bone as the extra vocal layers are sounds great. The guitar's sounds great as usual. I'm currently trying to make a "Best of Thingfish" CD, and this will surely be on it. Cheers and keep up the great work. The vocals are progressing even more (in my opinion, I don't know if you rest can hear any difference).

You'll soon make Bruce jump of his chair running around his house as if he was onstage with an expression of him being deeply impressed!  :fencing:

Have a praise! And, a pie, but you have to make it yourself, my stocks of pies are already eaten.
But hey, I can make you one another time!
