The Official Book of Souls Tour 2017 Thread (Warning: Spoilers Within)

Guys, to be honest with you....if they do not release a new Live album....it doesn't really matter what they play (for me) as they won't be coming to Greece :(

I think there is some potential for a live album. The O2 dates are located nicely in the middle of the tour and there are 2 of them, so they could be recorded.

I'm going to predict the setlist stays exactly the same. As far as new album tours go, the reason the AMOLAD tour changed was because they changed the name of the tour to A Matter Of The Beast and the first leg of The Final Frontier tour was before the album came out so that was more like the Give Me Ed tour. But as far as the other 2 post-1999 tours where the album was already out, they kept the same setlist for both legs. Also, there's no doubt in my mind that we'll get an official live release since Maiden England got skipped.

On the other hand, every tour since 2006/07 changed its setlist in the second leg, album or not. So I'm counting on Wrathchild for Children of the Damned, Revelations for Powerslave and Run to the Hills for Book of Souls.

I kind of like the idea of CotD being replaced by Revelations and ToaC being replaced by Brave New World. Both are proven live songs and even though I'd argue many other songs would deserve the playtime more, the fact is at least they're not Wrathchild and 2MTM or something. Basically it'd be damage minimization for the inevitable DVD.

Maiden England legs 1 and 2 had the same setlist.

ME was a bit different though. The '12 leg was North America only while the '13 one was (mostly) Europe. This time they've already played Europe and NA (albeit only a few dates in the US) last year and I do believe Maiden usually changes their setlists if they hit the same places in different years of the same tour.

If RTTH did come back, there is no way they would drop the title track of the whole album / tour / stage theme.

You could be right on with the others though!

They'll actually be replacing all the TBoS tracks with well-adored classics on the '17 leg, as requested by various fans in the Blabbermouth comments section. Look forward to hearing classics such as Wrathchild, TETMD, 2MTM, RTTH and Wrathchild again on the upcoming leg of The Book of Souls World Tour.

The mad thing is, I am usually disappointed with the same old set list to some degree each tour, but this year my wife is going for the first time ever, so I kind of hope they do some stuff she knows, which would be 2MTM, RTTH, TNOTB etc, so I can't really lose this year! ;)

I actually got a taste of what it must be like for a casual fan to go to the more recent Maiden shows.

Took my wife to see Bon Jovi a few weeks back.
Honestly, I haven't really listened to his material since the 80's. I've heard a few of the newer 'hits' on the radio a few times since then, but basically only know the classics.
The first hour and a half he played 2 classic songs.
Thankfully the last hour was almost all classics except for 2 newer hits.

About an hour in, I started thinking, this is what casual Maiden fans must feel like.
Though, at least Maiden sprinkles in more classics throughout the set.

What you said is a thing of pacing the setlist. With last year's set Maiden did that perfectly. 2 new songs, 1 classic, 2 new songs, 2 classics, 2 new songs, classics to the end. That's good set pacing. What do you do after a long new TRATB? Drop a Trooper. I do not know what Bon Jovi show you saw (they change the setlist), but from what I've seen (looked up on setlist.fm) they paced their set terribly on this tour (15 songs with only 2 classics hits between, is a snoozefest for non diehard).

Pacing is really a key and TBOS is one of Maiden's best for tours off of a new album in some time.. not just new song/classic song .. but longer songs/shorter snappier songs.

I just can't help but think it must be harder to type the song titles this way than properly.
