The Official Book of Souls Tour 2016 Thread (Warning: Spoilers within!)

Then Maiden's message to China could have been:

A. Look, this is what we could play. Make thy choice.
B. Look, we won't play any other songs in China, so don't worry. If this is good enough, we now will make a shorter set.
C. This is the complete set.

My thinking is C and this is the final submission and the goverment censored 2 songs from the original submission.

About 2 awkwardly placed songs...
If you caught that Wasted Years and Blood Brothers are placed strangely in the set, while other songs seem in order. Also there is only 2 song encore which leads me to believe that 2 songs from the first submission were censored and replaced with WY and BB. I believe that one of those songs could be Running Free (partying), Sanctuary (war, running froom the law) or These Colours Don't Run (war). Trooper probably wasn't censored because it's historic aspect, its not a straight forward war song. It was reported that there was trouble in China with the concert and I think that that was with censoring 2 songs from original setlist.

I've just seen it. It is possible. But looking at the setlist two songs were definately added to it because their placing does not make any sense whatsoever. And one of encore songs was probably censored.

Sounds possible, obviously besides this:
Blood Brothers as an opening song? Come on, that's the most fake sounding thing I've ever heard. The rest makes sense if you put IESF first and BB somewhere in the middle...
If that's just for China then I'm cool with it. If it's the same for the rest of the world, I'll be disappointed. Soooo generic...

BB and WY were most likely added after as substitutes for 1 classic and 1 recent song that were censored.

Bruce apparently mentioned in an interview in Sarajevo that he knew which songs Maiden will play. That was in december. I think this setlist is legitimate. I guess the question is if this is for China only.

1. Genghis Khan
2. Losfer Words
3. Transylvania
4. Hocus Pocus
5. Chinese National Anthem
6. Ides of March
7. Nicko tells an off-color joke about the Chinese and the show is abruptly halted

Oops, sorry!!
Least there wasn't Don't Look to the Eyes of a Stranger..

So Brucie hasn't sung with the band since he recovered from cancer & Maiden have already told the Chinese organisers the setlist without having rehearsed it? And six tracks from BoS? And Huxley?

This sounds pretty unlikely.

Per the Nicko interviews in FC mag 100/101... Nicko says they circulate a preliminary setlist (from Steve/Bruce) for individual rehearsal, and then when they get together for group rehearsal things may change as they feel out how the songs will work. So I wouldn't be surprised if the set that was leaked was this initial rough draft setlist.

I have not looked at the China setlist, and probably won't. But it's likely it may change once they get into group rehearsals.

So we're inferring from a comment that Nicko has dropped that Bruce "said in December he knows the setlist"? Did Bruce say he knows the setlist in December or not? Other than this, of course it makes sense that they all know the songs they're going to run through before they all get together.

So why would they submit it? And if they had to, & it changes (after rehearsal), what then? They play something else & hope the Chinese don't notice before the second gig?
