The Official Book of Souls Tour 2016 Thread (Warning: Spoilers within!)

I'm hoping for my city but it's happened only once. And that was realized because Slaven Bilic and Steve Harris are each other's fans. The problem is a lack of "medium" capacity. A 9000 arena, a 12000 arena, and a big stadium. So if they don't target at least 35.000 people (and that's a shitty configuration for this stadium acoustically, proper concert is > 50.000, got to do with stage placement etc.) meaning that they won't play anywhere else on geographical Balkan (and that includes Austria, so already out of the question), they won't play here. Zagreb's got a nice 18,500 arena and it's almost always a better option :|

See, here's the crap bit; with these Maiden stand-alone gigs starting to hit. Their commitment to Download in the UK has clearly meant an agreement not to play any other UK gigs in 2016; or at least not to announce any until the Download gig is over (--so Download can maximise their ticket sales to fans who are basically only attending to see Maiden headline.) Why, if this is correct, would Maiden put themselves in this kind of contractual situation? They've probably had this kind of agreement in previous years; I'm curious as to why they think it's good or works for their own fans. They could clearly be organising and announcing a 2016 UK tour if it wasn't for Download. Is headlining this again so important? Is it money? I don't get it.

From what I've gathered from other acts, it's just a standard contract clause that prohibits the band from playing in the same specified area within a limited time frame. Nothing specific for Download. Considering the scale of the festival, that's that. I guess the offer they get to headline this particular festival is far better from most points of view than organising a tour across the UK themselves - not that big of a stretch to imagine.

This thread has gotten a little overwhelming, but if anyone (well, not anyone, but you good folks know who you are) still needs presale codes for any of the EUR dates, send me a PM and I'll give you mine. I most certainly won't be using them.

I'm gonna go for Rock in Vienna. There's some confusion as to when the actual tickets go on sale for that though, according to Maiden, tomorrow, according to the rockinvienna.at website, today. Gonna be safe and go for today haha.

The Ullevi show in 2005 was broadcast on TV, maybe that will happen again next year?

Could happen, but I'd guess chances are slim. SVT broadcasted the "Big 4" show from Ullevi in 2011, but that's about the only similar occasion.
