The Official Book of Souls Tour 2016 Thread (Warning: Spoilers within!)

If there some kind of balls-up with the Gothenburg presale? I'm hearing that there are meant to be Golden Circle tickets but they're not showing up for the presale folks or something? Could an FC member check the forum and see if there's anything about it there?

Presale doesn't open until tomorrow, that's probably why things aren't showing up.

I'd say the biggest problem that causes this is that almost everyone I know buy more tickets to sell later. I'd like to see personal tickets that can't be sold second hand - that would be much more fair to everyone involved, and in the unlikely cases of someone not being able to attend, there could a regulated way of selling the ticket on without losing to much money.

2013's London O2 shows were ticketless. You could buy up to four (I think) on one credit/debit card, and you simply all walked up together and had your card scanned to enter the arena. No touting and no booking/handling fees. This should be universal by now.

What happened if you genuinely wanted to hand on your ticket (on a secondary market) for face value because you couldn't go? Could that still have been done?
They had probably already contracted with Download to play an "Exclusive" headline show this year.

This might be completely out of their control- maybe they'd love to do a full UK arena tour but simply can't due to the timing and contractual obligations.
See, here's the crap bit; with these Maiden stand-alone gigs starting to hit. Their commitment to Download in the UK has clearly meant an agreement not to play any other UK gigs in 2016; or at least not to announce any until the Download gig is over (--so Download can maximise their ticket sales to fans who are basically only attending to see Maiden headline.) Why, if this is correct, would Maiden put themselves in this kind of contractual situation? They've probably had this kind of agreement in previous years; I'm curious as to why they think it's good or works for their own fans. They could clearly be organising and announcing a 2016 UK tour if it wasn't for Download. Is headlining this again so important? Is it money? I don't get it.

EDIT:
We'll see if this equally applies to France.

I don't hope any indoor gig for 2016. Maybe in 2017, but they don't have such a huge bunch of fans there.
You got two nights at Bercy on TFF tour, yes? (Btw, was that an added date or were they both announced at the same time back then?) Plus, Sonisphere festival (I concede it wasn't in Paris, it was in Amneville; which is where the difference lies this time around I suppose) and Bercy on the 2013 ME tour in the same week. Is Bercy a big venue capacity wise? Did they media announcement for Download state that this would be the only date in 2016 for France? The UK brief specifically stated this. Where else might they play outside of Paris, that they've played before, that wouldn't be too geographically close to the Download event?

Tickets to Gothenburg bought!
Will be awesome to be back there since I lived there for around 10 years but somehow doesn't come back to visit as often as I would like.
If there will be some kind of meeting up with people from here, be sure to notify me, ok?

On TFF, a second Bercy gig was added after the first one sold out, but only approx. 8000 attended this second night. Bercy, by then, was a 17 000 capacity, and has recently been turned into a 20 000+ arena. Amneville did attract many German, Belgian and Luxemburg fans, as did Arras Mainsquare last year. The Download gig is advertised as the only 2016 concert in France, and I don't see them playing Bercy after a gig that is basically a stone's throw from Paris (subway can be used to go down there). Last year they played two festivals, but they were quite distant, and, as I said, the second one attracted many foreigners. Where could they play ? Eastern France should be avoided, because of the many German gigs, and they've not been too successfull in Southern France.

I do think there'll be something UK, back end of 2016.

Very likely that there will be a First To The Barrier contest for the shows in Norway and Denmark...

In the press release it says that there will "be exclusive pre-sale tickets for FC members, details on Ironmaiden.com, together with information about how fan club members can participate in the draw to get "first to the barrier""

I don't know. But it should be easy to allow people to "sell" back their unwanted tickets to the agent who could then release them in batches, on announced dates, say three months, one month and one week before the gig. After all, with no physical or even e-ticket, it's just a case of keeping a spreadsheet updated isn't it?

Anyway, topic drift...

I agree this is likely. I just think it's farcical that they have to issue a media statement for Download specifically stating that this will be their only UK 2016 gig; only for Bruce to probably announce the opposite while on the stage at Download. In the hope that this is the likelihood, or at the very least that early 2017 UK dates are announced around that time (in June 2016), I've decided to make no attempt to attend Download. Not really interested in seeing Maiden at a festival anyway.

Next year is going to be a pretty long, difficult year on this forum, with spoiler threads & whatnot, for those UK fans (or anyone else) who is waiting for news of dates in 2017...
