The Official Book of Souls Tour 2016 Thread (Warning: Spoilers within!)

03.07.2016 - Wrocław, POLAND (stadium show). Major sources say the official announcement is coming on Monday. This is my area, the city is so fucking close... And yet it seems I can't afford it this time. It sucks, I'm so mad right now...

How many Zloty do we all need to contribute to get this guy to a Maiden gig?! Can't be more than the price of a beer each...

I wonder if there will be a 2nd Polish gig. It has been ages ago since that last happened, but you never know.

Uhhh, now the Live Nation didn't reveal the ticket prices, but 250 Zloty for sure, I recon, it means: 50 GBP or 65 EUR just for one ticket.

Second gig in Poland maybe in 2017. Stadium in Wroclaw can hold even 35,000 people - even too many for IM in this country after 24 shows here.

Poland: multiple gigs- and "first time in a city"-history (not a complete Maiden in Poland history!):

Correction:
Maiden England World Tour: 2 dates in 2013 (Łódź: also 3 July!! and Gdańsk: 4 July).
Also: Brave New World Tour: 2 dates in 2000 (Katowice, Warsaw: 20 and 21 June).

Before that:
6 gigs during Somewhere on Tour:
19 September 1986 Zabrze (6) Poland Zabrze Makoszowy
20 September 1986 Wrocław Hala Ludowa
21 September 1986 Poznań Hala Arena
23 September 1986 Gdańsk (7) Hala Olivia
24 September 1986 Łódź Hala Sportowa
25 September 1986 Warsaw Torwar Hall

5 gigs during World Slavery Tour:
9 August 1984 Warsaw (1) Poland Torwar Hall
10 August 1984 Łódź (2) Sporthall Aleja Politechniki
11 August 1984 Poznań (3) Hala Arena
12 August 1984 Wrocław (4) Folks Hall
14 August 1984 Katowice (5) Sporthall Makoszowy

Other city Maiden has played in:
Chorzów (8) (Eddie Rips Up the World Tour: Mystic Festival, 29 May 2005, with Charlotte the Harlot!)

It's about time Krakow joins this list of cities!

Oh, come on, don't even think about this  I fucked myself up so I pay the price now. It's all the aftermath of what I wrote about here. So much bad luck lately!

Meh, Kraków in 2017 wouldn't be as cool as the Wrocław deal for me... ;) This one is just 100 km away and I know the city well, plus it's Sunday! I feel like someone planned this just to piss me off :PBy the way, it's interesting that Black Sabbath plays in Poland the day before (in Kraków). I guess it might affect the attendance on the Maiden gig. The good thing is that tickets probably won't be sold quickly.

Vienna is currently my best option, but I'm sure there'll be something better & closer. And it's also too close in time to my best option for the Black Sabbath tour, which is my top priority for next year. Just wanna catch Sabbath while I still can, there's gonna be plenty of time for Maiden.

So gutted about the download announcement for the uk.

Been to download before and it's such a waste of time. Far too many bands that clash with times, way overpriced everything from the tickets to the food and drink and in my opinion just a badly organised festival that tries to cram too much in. Bring back the old monsters of Rock I say. One stage, one set of bands one day.

At this stage of their career Maiden have been there, seen it and done it all so I do t get why they have to play a festival like download which rules out the whole of the U.K. For 2016 apart from that one date. I don't care how much the band is paid for download and if it's more cost effective than an arena tour or whatever. The band are millionaires many times over so it can't be about the money. Why not finish 2016 with a uk arena tour and do download in 2017, makes more sense to me.

What with Bruce's health issues and Nicko's age anything can happen between now and 2017 and I'd be gutted if the band has to stop for some reason before they get a chance to play a proper uk tour. That might be a bit much and I'm sure the lads will be fine but a British band like maiden should start and finish their tours in the uk as far as I'm concerned.

Sorry about the rant but I'm so annoyed that it's gonna be nearly 2 years before I can see maiden again live :(

The whole thing about being loyal to British fans is a controversial one, but I can agree with a lot of what you say re Download. Download tries to be a lot of things to a lot of different people, and at its core is a following of people who generally go for the party and the festival atmosphere, and they expect big bands, but aren't picky about who they are.

As well as Maiden fans feeling peeved that they have no option but to pay at least £80 for a day ticket, plus something like £20 parking, to stand in a field, if they want to see Maiden in the UK, there have been younger festivalgoers complaining that a boring old band like Maiden are on again.

But I stand by what I said before, that they haven't completely ruled out UK indoor shows in 2016, only as part of this particular tour.

They literally said on the official site: "This will be Maiden’s only UK appearance."

It depends on how you read this.

A: "... of this year."
B: "... of this tour."

I read option B, but for everybody who'd like to see it happen, I hope it's A. But if it's A, I think they communicated it the wrong way. Maybe they don't dare to create expectations, as long as nothing is sure.

Personally, I thought: who knows, a UK tour is not handy with a 747 (or other "everything in the plane")? A costly adventure.

Good point Foro. In France, every fan takes option A for granted, i.e. that there is going to be at least an indoor gig in 2017, but I don't know if there is anything to support this assertion. They tour Europe extensively this year, so my guess is that won't do it again year to support the same album.

But would they play indoor shows in the UK in 2016 not related to the Book of Souls tour and in what connection would that be? Some charity gig? ;)
