The Official Book of Souls Tour 2016 Thread (Warning: Spoilers within!)

I agree Bruce sounds great, but I can assure you he sounded MUCH better down here in South America. Must be the amount of shows they have played since then.

As I said the best shows vocally were Arnhem and Berlin on this tour. He was struggling with TBOS until they hit South America. The South American shows were good vocaly. After the Forum shows Bruce started to show some signs of being vocally tired (but the amount was nowhere near the 2014 leg of ME tour). Then in Australia he was ill for some shows.

One of the highlights for me at ullevi was watching Bruce being moved almost to tears before blood brothers, and watching it again still sends shivers up my spine. Here is a clip of it:

I'll hear that Sydney bootleg this afternoon (today i can hear music at the office), for sure. All i have of this tour is a poor bootleg of the concert i attended here (but with tons of sentimental value haha). But i saw The Book of Souls video of Download, and Bruce's voice was definitely banged up. I remember how i had goosebumps when Bruce sang TBoS here, his voice was phenomenal, filling all of the enviroment. That made me think if wasn't best for the band interests to prolong the tours, but making bigger intervals between them (like, 1st quarter on Europe, 2nd quarter off, 3rd quarter NA/SA, 4th quarter off, 1st quarter of the next year Asia and Europe again, and so on), but that's just an idea (probably a bad one).

Anyway, i hope they made the DVD out of an early show of the tour (either US/Canada, Australia or South America) instead of yet another show at the end of the tour. If Maiden will really tour in 2017, than it's very likely that they'll play at either Rock in Rio or Monsters of Rock here. It's not the best scenario, i would rather see Maiden solo, but i was really expecting no brazilian shows at all. I'll start saving the money for now, another road trip is coming...

Ideally they should have maybe one month off between every leg. However, I'm surprised how good Bruce's voice has been this year. In 2011 his voice was completely shot at the end of that tour. And they even had over one month off before they hit Europe. Maybe less back-to-back shows have done the trick?

A lot depends on if they bust out EF1 again for next year. If they do Rock In Rio in September next year and travel there the conventional way (trucks and buses), then they will most likely do more dates there.

I can't see them getting EF1 back, certainly not the 747. It just went back to Sharjah, mostly likely for a refit.

Another OMG!!!

This is an in ear monitor recording from the Tokyo show: http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=565299

What is an IEM (In Ear Monitors) recording?
In Ear Monitors are devices used by performers to hear a mix of microphones and/or instrument pickups that are on the stage. They are often custom fitted to the individuals ears and provide a high level of noise reduction from stage noise. An IEM recording is a recording of this wireless audio feed, there can be a difference between an IEM recording from Bono's feed and the recording from Adam's for instance.
So, between this, the Australia pro soundboard show, the footage from Download, and the official release of Death Or Glory, we're doing pretty good.

I can't download it at the moment (site is closed to register). Can you work out whose in-ear monitor mix is it (which guitar is the loudest), Jan's, H's or Davey's?

No, I can't. It sounds like a soundboard recording to me. Keep trying to register over and over and over again until it lets you in because they purge inactive accounts all the time. Or I can upload it to a file host. It's in FLAC so it's a bit on the large size of 777MB.

Edit: I sort of take that back. In The Trooper, the 1st solo sounds a bit louder than the 2nd and in Speed Of Light they both sound about the same. It sounds really amazing overall. Hopefully these sound samples work for you:
