The Marvel Thread (Spoilers, and language!)

I don't think she'll want to jump into another show as a regular, but being a frequent guest is almost certain... if there is a Season 2.

Which is looking more and more unlikely, I'm afraid. Those ratings are just dropping off.

I really think that SHIELD will get a second season. It's too big of a property to cancel after one season. Marvel can't admit defeat like that yet. I do think we'll get a Dollhouse-esque two-season run, which Marvel can them claim was, "the plan all along."

I also think we will get a second season, Marvel seems to be making plans for several years atm and even if it's not as popular as they'd like it's not doing terribly. From what I understand it's current timeslot is putting it up against a very strong show in NCIS? I doubt a lot of the storylines will be tied up by the end of season 1 and Joss really hates cliffhangers, so I'd expect him to only write an ongoing story if he has been already given an indication it can be completed.

The main reason though is the network ownership.

2 things I think about when I ponder this.

1) current actors don't have SHIELD in their contracts. I find it likely that some actors will be required to make SHIELD appearances. I'd do that if I were Marvel.
2) more integration with the movies is a must. I'm sorry, but the best episode yet was the most integrated, the most recent one with Sif. Because it gives legitimacy. That's only appearance #4 from the films - and we hope of more. We hope for one of the actual Avengers to arrive...and everyone knows that's what everyone wants.

I just don't see any way that one of the Avengers could show up on the show. I would love it, but the financials just don't make sense. Everyone in the Avengers film commands at least a $1 million price tag, which is far too high for a single episode of a TV show, even if it is owned by Disney. The sole exception is possibly Jeremy Renner, who isn't quite at the level of the others. Yes, Sam Jackson did it, but it's been well-established that enjoys what he does and will pretty much show up in anything if he likes it.

Like I said, if they put it into the stars' contracts - like, say, Anthony Mackie as Falcon. I'm not saying RDJ will ever show up on the show...that would be ridiculous.

Hey. Hey. Hey. I just realized the most recent delay syncs up with the release of Winter Soldier.

Hey. Hey. Hey. I just realized the most recent delay syncs up with the release of Winter Soldier.

There shouldn't be any more delays after next week. The actor who plays Sitwell said that a scene with him/Coulson in the show follows directly from a scene in Winter Soldier, so the reason for this last delay should be to sync it up. They've also said it might be quite hard to keep up with some events in the show without seeing the film.

I think it's important that both films/TV are watchable without seeing the other, but that if you watch them both there should be some things that either make more sense or that you plain wouldn't have noticed previously (even if just background character names).

Probably won't be watching the special from tonight until after I've seen Cap 2, with all the teasers/TV spots/trailers I've already seen quite a bit of footage, but the special goes into a lot more detail on the characters etc so I've heard.. and I'm a bit weary of knowing too much more ahead of time!

They've already set a date for Cap 3, same day as Batman vs Superman in 2016, so that was a quick setup! They must be VERY happy with the way this film has turned out.

I'm only interested in AoU teaser, I can wait for TWS.

Clark Gregg confirmed that next week there'll be a AoS episode 13 rerun, and then no more breaks till the end of the season :yey:

Woo hoo! :yey:

Also, the special does reveal a spoiler about TWS that's pretty big but it didn't affect me since I already knew about it from reading up on Cap before. Just a warning if you watch the special.

The special was alright. I managed to get some work done while watching it :)

It really is impressive what Marvel is doing, especially when you consider the quality of the product that they're putting out. Twenty years from now, people are gonna look back on the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the most important genre series ever made.

That said, I want new SHIELD now!!!
