The Marvel Thread (Spoilers, and language!)

Did you notice that when the SHIELD symbol first appears, it momentarily turns into the Cap shield before the text show logo gets stamped over it?
I didn't notice that before until you said something. Hmm... I wonder if they're going to do another movie tie-in like they did with Thor?

I would expect so, there's a lot of SHIELD in Cap 2 and even just from the trailers you can tell there's going to be a lot of internal shakeups, so I'd be surprised it if didn't have a heavy impact on the show. Showing something directly related to Cap in the general series promo though is interesting. Possible Cameo?

That's what I'm hoping for. It would be cool to start seeing cameos from the actual Avengers team. Though, I know it's not always going to be possible due to the actors and such.

Well, t'was an interesting episode of SHIELD... I'm somewhat intrigued as to where it's going. It's possible this could trigger some powers in Skye, who knows.

Quite close to the broadcast so I'll spoiler it to be kind ;p

One thing that has struck me with the mention of her being an 0-8-4, most fan reaction seems to be that it means she has had powers since birth (although the agent said she didnt show them) and isn't human or something, that a person can't be classified as an "Object" of unknown origin... to me all it says is that the person who first called it in didn't know what they were dealing with, and later on found out it was a child. So she may not have any powers at all and this episode is where they come from, especially as if she did already have some it'd be a bit weird requiring a drug catalyst to spark them.

God knows what that thing at the end was!? It was being pumped full of the drug but that doesn't imply that the drug causes problems... so why was Coulson so afraid. Does he think it will zombify her or something? Because as Fitz said, she is still alive.
EDIT: Re-watched, perhaps the drug is instead being produced BY whatever it was in the tube. I'm sure people more into the comics will be able to identify it but I've no clue, looks fairly big though.

I have no freaking idea what the blue creature is. I'm sure comic geeks are figuring it out at this moment :D Ratings for this one are lowest yet, I'm not holding out hopes for 2nd season :(

I think the ratings are down because it was another huge gap and people forget it was restarting. Other than one guy who constantly whines about Dealthlok, every post I've seen on Hype has been positive, much more so than earlier in the season.

Youtube version of the above (that one wouldn't load for me)
to me the winter soldier for me was the best written marvel character in the past 5 or so years. Ed Brubaker is an amazing writer, daredevil was amazing when Brubaker was writting him too. I can't wait to see the falcon in this movie. Sucks Ed's not writing cap anymore

Good theory (AOS spoilers):
Why did Coulson suddenly become suicidal after they revived him? He was begging, "Please let me die. Please let me die. Please let me die."

Yes, it's possible the procedure was just excruciatingly painful, but here's another possibility.

The thoughts of "Please let me die"? They came from the blue alien. He's been suffering for years, injured, trapped in a tube so humans can harvest his healing serum. He's the one begging to be allowed to die.

Somehow the thoughts were transferred when Coulson received the serum. Coulson remembered these thoughts when he saw the alien, and that's why he didn't want Skye to suffer the same fate. But somehow, Skye either avoided these thoughts or had the strength to overcome them.

Also...
It didn't take nearly as much crazy shit to revive Skye as it did Coulson. Skye was still alive when they injected her. Barely, but she was hanging on. Coulson wasn't just dead, he was stone dead. He got a lot more of the Blue Creature Shit (he might not be an alien if he's an Atlantean) than she did.

Is Agents of shield badly promoted? Or I just don't watch enough abc because I forgot about this show for about a month or so. Realized it was back by pure luck. Anyways the show is above average with plenty of room to improve.

Finally watched this week's episode, and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's the first time I've liked Bill Paxton since probably Aliens, mostly because he wasn't chewing scenery here.

I really like this theory and hope that they explore it! In general, the whole "will Skye die?" mini-arc will be pretty lame unless these new discoveries lead to even more discoveries that drastically impact her life or the team.

I'm not a big fan of Bill Paxton (except for Aliens and Near Dark) but I thought he was really great this episode. Kind of hope we get to see more of his character.

As far as Skye is concerned...
I'm wondering if maybe she could be somehow connected to that alien. She is an 0-8-4 and that could have something to do with that alien and why the serum worked so well with her? Maybe it was one of her parents or her parents were that race of alien? May sound crazy but that's my thought.

I'm thinking that's not crazy at all.

Tonight's Agents was great and the plot is thickening. I loved seeing Sif this episode. I already knew she was badass from the Thor movies but seeing her on her own was even more badass. I thought Lorelei was pretty great too with her seductive sorceress nature. I'm not sure if anyone else caught this but I thought it was kind of funny when she said about being under Odin's orders to bring Lorelei back alive...but last time I checked after seeing The Dark World, Odin isn't Odin.... That makes me wonder if Lorelei will be back in the future, maybe in the next Thor movie?

A little more about the episode...
Coulson ends up telling Skye what he found in the lab and what she was injected with. Of course, Skye is all "whatever' about it but Coulson wants answers and that means doing whatever it takes to get them so it seems like he and Skye are going to be on their own personal mission together because Coulson told Skye to keep it between them but little do they know, revealed at the end of the episode, May was listening in on their conversation and it turns out that May has known about Coulson this whole time! She contacts someone unknown and says "Agent Melinda May, update log 93, he knows. I repeat, Coulson knows.” Very interesting stuff. This show just keeps getting better and better! Oh and apparently Ward has had the hots for Skye this whole time and not May but that's not very important. I kind of figured that was the case anyway.

No new episode next week but it's being replaced with a Marvel special which looks awesome! I can't wait for it! :D

I think this may be the best episode yet. From a pure character standpoint, this is the most progression we've seen in awhile on all fronts!

May/Ward has broken up, Ward's feelings for Skye are rising to the surface, Coulson confronted his fears and told Skye about the alien, and May is serving a higher power!

I totally forgot about that! Very interesting...I'm sure we'll see more of Lorelai, whether it's on the show or in the movies. I'd love it if these characters started crossing over into the films.

It's interesting that Sif took a pause and emphasized "Kree" during her list of aliens...

As for Ward/Skye...I've noticed that for a long time, but I really hope they don't rush it. It's always nice when the badass/stoic characters have unrequited love rather than the more emotional characters (i.e. Fitz-Simmons).

I've finally come around to Ward with this episode. They've finally realized that the quick way to make him more interesting is to turn him evil and have the ramifications of that affect other people (i.e. Angel in the 2nd season of Buffy). Great Whedon-y tactic for making boring characters interesting!

As much as I'm looking forward to that special, the constant interruptions of this show are getting ridiculous.
