The Future Past Tour 2024

What may happen with big arena and stadium tours in the future? Will tickets eventually become unaffordable for the majority of folks or will people continue to find some way to purchase tickets? Will Ticketmaster have to start setting up folks on payments? Credit checks to buy tickets? Lol. Bands may have to drastically scale down their production in order to make cut touring costs. Eventually the golden goose dies, right?
Production costs have gone up but I don't think anywhere near as much as ticket prices.

Bruce Springsteen standing tickets were like €165 before fees for his Dublin show next year. They are that price because last year they were about €130 and they all sold out.

It's the job of the promotor to make as much money as possible and it seems, especially since COVID ended, the public's hunger for live concert tours is insatiable.

We're also seeing the migration of the US pricing structure into Europe (platinum packages, dynamic ticket pricing, further monopolisation by Ticketmaster/live nation sub-entities) and it seems to have been largely successful as tours just keep selling well despite the price increases.

When Maiden retire, there are no bands of their scale that I want to see anymore. Maybe Pearl Jam if they ever come back to do arenas in the UK. I’m still going to support small bands and gigs. I imagine the last time I go to the O2 is when I see Maiden for the last time. Either that or when my daughter asks me to see a band there.
Same.

I'm seeing Maiden and both nights of Metallica's tour next year. After that, I can't imagine I will ever buy another ticket to a stadium/arena show barring future Maiden tours.

I have been to see many bands at the O2 Arena since 2011 (Rammstein, Rush, Neil Young and Crazy Horse, Black Sabbath, The Cult + Alice Cooper, Blue Öyster Cult + Deep Purple, Iron Maiden x8), but all those bands are a bit long in the tooth and some no longer exist.

Who knows what the future might bring though? There might be new bands that we like that end up playing big arenas in the future.

Really the only new band that I've gotten into in years is Ghost and in no way do they come close to matching my interest in Maiden or Priest (and a few other of the old guard bands I've loved over the years). Guess I'm too set in my ways now. Kind of sad as I used to keep up on on most everything going on in the music industry when I was younger.
I remember being young and going to the record store, and every month there was something new and great by bands like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Cheap Trick, Aerosmith, Jethro Tull, Styx, and the list goes on and on. We were spoiled and thought that was normal and would never end. It ended.

I was interested in Ghost for about 3 years, then they continued down their popward path and I am not really interested anymore.

Ghost was never a band I liked and listened to. I just heard some songs, but I never understood why people were into this. There's nothing interesting about its music or gimmicks or stage show... It's like Maiden and Kiss were parents and had some ugly kid called Ghost...

I am not a fan of Ghost by any means. But their album Prequelle clicked with me very much. I perceive this album as a work of art. I like it's sound, themes, direction. It contains two GREAT instrumentals. Yeah, sure, this album leans to the "pop" side of things, but for me this album certainly has something that draws me in. Mystic aura+great production+great melodies+overall melodicness, etc. Latest their album did nothing for me.
And I understand that Tobias Forge is cynical in his approach and he constructs bands image, all moves are premeditated and so on. This makes hard to treat him seriously but as I said, Prequelle to me is a gold nugget.

edit: I just understood, Prequelle to me is Ghost's Powerslave :applause:

I Got into them around the release of Infest, enjoyed Meliora. Lost interest after the whole band member debacle (Not a fan of court drama with bands)

Saw them supporting Maiden, thought they sounded flat and Tobias croaked his way through a lot of it.

Got a free ticket to see em again later on and wasnt impressed with the musicianship but did enjoy the stage theatrics. I can see why the pop/arena rock sells tickets

Well, it is "safe metal" that gives you value for money live, with a lot of merch that can be donned at Halloween (which is economical). That said, if one is into "dark pop" (Depeche Mode for example), it is an interesting crossover.
I don't like Depeche Mode (just one song which is "Enjoy The Silence", that's all). So, I don't find this "crossover" thing interesting. This added to the fact that Tobias' voice is one of the worst in rock/metal genre. I can't stand it at all. It's nasal and is wet noodle, like his music.
