The Future Past tour 2023

AMOLAD is in my top 5 and my favorite reunion album. It's incredibly consistent and filled to the brim with creative riffs and melodies. I just hope we'll get an official live release of the '06 tour at some point.

We like to meme about Maiden songs always being in E minor, but for AMOLAD this is actually kinda true. 9 songs in a row start in the same key, with only The Legacy being finally a full step lower in D minor. The songs have key changes, or go for different modes, but listening to the first few seconds of each song one after another makes them sound kinda samey. Don't really care though, since the songs are incredibly strong anyway.

Of course, if it really was “The Future Past” tour, they would play a new unreleased song or two along with the incredible set of yore…
It is the Recent Past and Distant Past tour!
As soon as they play those unreleased songs, they are no longer from the future. It’s sort of like as soon as you’re born you’re dying.

To us, there is no present. If you break time into infinitesimal moments, you never experience the "right now" - only expectations of what will happen or experience of what has just happened to you. "Now" is abstract, it has no value on its own. There is no way to measure it, to realise it on its own - only in contrast with the changes that have already happened, turning the possibilities into actualities, or those that yet have to do so.

But on the other hand, there is no past and no future - what was, was and it isn't anymore; there might be consequences, but the actual state of the universe is gone and can't be repeated. What will be has not yet passed and even in the most probable version of potentialities, it doesn't exist - dare we say - even more, because it is yet in the mere realm of possibility and unlike the past, it had no chance to even experience actuality, to truly happen. The only thing that is real is right now - and past and future exist only in our minds, in our narratives, in our memories and projections, in our hopes and reminiscences. WE are the carriers, the bearers of the narrative, it is us who remember the past and predict the future; without us there would be no such thing.

So thanks to those who can't experience the present, the past and the future even exist. Take that, you "Damocles' carbon spider web" Bruce.

It's more like ''Present & Past'' tour. ''Future'' is with a brand new song from an album that is still unreleased, but then again, SJ is the ''future of the band'' with songs from it being played for at least 3 years (2 tours) in a row.

There were a few mistakes last night I noticed.

Bruce losing his place in Stranger

Bruce about to introduce Can I Play With Madness instead of Death of the Celts

Bruce and Adrian out of time during the chorus of Wasted Years.

I'm sure there were a few more but it didn't detract from a bloody good show! Shame the crowd were a bit dead where I was.

Two more days to the O2. My wife has said that she hasn’t seen me this excited for a Maiden gig in ages. I think it is the prospect of seeing 7 songs that I haven’t seen live before and the fact it could be one of the last times I see them.

My school is striking on the day of the gig. That makes travelling down a little easier!

Frankly I’d be okay even if they didn’t thanks to the quality bootlegs that we have from the tour, especially Globen. Sure, a little more production would be nice, but the songs still kick ass and even the two I’m most critical about, “The Longest Day” and “Out of the Shadows”, have a lot more life on stage than on the record. It’s kind of an odd album to pick to play live in its entirety and yet I was really surprised to hear just how well it actually did work. Kinda wish they’d do something like that again. Almost happened for Senjutsu.

Looking at recent footage of the tour the boys sound incredible! Can’t wait for London in 2 sleeps… but…. I hate to say this, Nicko sounds like he is playing a different song to the rest of the band during the wasted years performances …‍

So... I haven't been super active with the tour buzz for the past few days, but so far:

- Nicko's playing has got better after the somewhat rough start?
- FAAALLING GOOOONG, FAAAALLIING GOOO-OO-ONG...
- Bruce got very pissed towards Janick due to some monitors being moved or whatever (people at the IMFC boards seemed to be rather worried about that), but they sorted it out, in good spirits, during the same show..?
- the performances are still outstanding and no signs of a mid-tour fatigue with Bruce's voice?

Being a Maiden fan is so stressful! ;)

Yes. BNW will work great because it has good balance.
Alexander the Great sounds so good live.
Indeed. I'm not surprised though.
