Of course, if it really was “The Future Past” tour, they would play a new unreleased song or two along with the incredible set of yore…
It is the Recent Past and Distant Past tour!
As soon as they play those unreleased songs, they are no longer from the future. It’s sort of like as soon as you’re born you’re dying.
To us, there is no present. If you break time into infinitesimal moments, you never experience the "right now" - only expectations of what will happen or experience of what has just happened to you. "Now" is abstract, it has no value on its own. There is no way to measure it, to realise it on its own - only in contrast with the changes that have already happened, turning the possibilities into actualities, or those that yet have to do so.
But on the other hand, there is
no past and no future - what was, was and it isn't anymore; there might be consequences, but the actual state of the universe is gone and can't be repeated. What will be has not yet passed and even in the most probable version of potentialities, it doesn't exist - dare we say -
even more, because it is yet in the mere realm of possibility and unlike the past, it had no chance to even experience actuality, to truly happen. The only thing that is real is
right now - and past and future exist only in our minds, in our narratives, in our memories and projections, in our hopes and reminiscences. WE are the carriers, the bearers of the narrative, it is us who remember the past and predict the future; without us there would be no such thing.
So thanks to those who can't experience the present, the past and the future even exist. Take that, you "Damocles' carbon spider web" Bruce.
