The Future Past tour 2023

Just thinking about it...

What is a bigger disappointment? No Infinite Dreams on Maiden England tour or no CSIT (if that happens) this year?

For me, Infinite Dreams. For sure. And everybody that is sure about CSIT, prepare to be disappointed if it doesn't pop up.
For me the bigger disappointment would be no Infinite Dreams. But if there's no Alexander I feel for many folks that trumps them both.

Just re-watched that Rock'N'Roll ribs party and a few things stood out from Nicko's mid-show rants. Another important piece of information is that Nicko wanted to bring back SIASL and 22AA as far as back in 2020 (he stated that in an interview, he put those 2 forward as tracks he wanted to play). Things that stood out to me from that party:

- Nicko played SIASL with his band for the first time (some Pat Travers band groove included, because it fits the song). This leads me to believe that SIASL was planned as a part of original "Senjutsu tour" setlist and Nicko got his wish.

- Nicko refers to the 2023 tour as "Senjutsu Tour". This leads me to believe that this year's tour was indeed planned as an album tour. But as they planned to include SIASL and ATG (next part) and performed Senjutsu and Stratego during LOTB, they decided to ditch those two and add Wasted Years and Heaven Can Wait. That was probably the managment's suggestion as history tours sell better than album tours. And the band agreed.

- Nicko actually rehearsed ATG with Titanium Tart. Called Steve about it and Steve asked him to leave it off the setlist and promised that Maiden are gonna perform it on the next tour. That resulted in addition of another SIT deep cut which enabled Maiden to ditch the Senjutsu album tour idea and call it a hybrid Future Past tour.

So, all in all, I think Nicko's wishes might be the main reason behind this tour and the SIT centerpieces will be Alex and Stranger.

Also, the more I think about it, it's very plausible that either Children Of The Damned or The Prisoner will be performed at the expense of The Number Of The Beast.
I agree with everything. Also, Bruce and Nicko wanted to play the whole Senjutsu album live, that was in 2022 iirc. Thank you, Nicko!

I think The Prisoner is very likely (Nicko played it on that show). Plus they wanted to drop Number Of The Beast for TBOS tour, but chose Run To The Hills instead. 22AA on the other hand has no chance, methinks.
Also, the decision go play 3 tracks from Senjutsu played a massive part in this.
Very true.
I think they intended a Somewhere in Time retro tour after the Senjutsu album tour which was supposed to take place in 2021-22. Then SIT from 2023 to 2025. This hybrid tour is Maiden catching up with their original plan.
Most likely yes, but we can't be sure. They could have done it after TBOS tour for example.
Easily one of my favorites from the album, and I think it's suitable for live shows as well. But I happen to like "boring noodling", as one member put it.
It would be a great live song for sure. I would love to hear it live too, but I want to hear Parchment more.

Alexander - then CSIT.

Yeah, for TBOS it was either RTTH or TNOTB. And Adrian vetoed 2MTM, because he felt it was overplayed (and he was right).

I have a feeling that this year both RTTH and TNOTB might be dropped. I was almost sure about that, until they announced Power Trip. Now, I think one of those 2 will be played. If none of those two are played in Europe, I think there is a chance they add one for the fall shows and drop a deeper cut.

Number Of The Beast, the album, will likely be represented with two songs. Hallowed is one and the second? I'd say The Prisoner.

I also think NOTB and RTTH will both get dropped this time.

I think Prisoner, Children of the Damned and Total Eclipse are all equally likely of being the other. The way they uploaded Total Eclipse on Youtube/Streaming platforms as a single and did some artwork for it when the 40th vinyl released just makes me think it has a chance of getting played.

That´s my thought too. Would be nice if The Trooper wasn´t there either. Classic song: yes. Overplayed: definitely.

The first 2 songs are on my wish list but Total Eclipse is meh.

I think they should take Bob Dylan as an example. For many years he changed his setlist from night to night entirely. Nothing could have been taken for granted in advance. That made his shows very, very exciting and each evening unique. However, this resulted in some shit shows (Hannover 2002 e.g.), but also there were truly great shows (Brunswick 2000 e.g.).
