The Future Past tour 2023

If given the choice of Hell or Parchment for the setlist I would choose Parchment. It's my favorite on the album. I suppose if I had to rank the Senjutsu songs I hope they play live I would place Celts last.
“Parchment” is currently ranked at #2 on my list of favorite Maiden songs overall. I’ll be sad if it doesn’t get played, but if two other epics from the album get to see the light of day I’ll be okay.

Another setlist try:

Senjutsu is a must go because of the poor audience feedback, definitely going to be replaced with either The Time Machine or Days of Future Past.
And they need space in the setlist, Senjutsu is an 8-minute long song (plus the tour isn't called ''Senjutsu World Tour'').

It would be really surprising if they didn't play Days Of Future Past.
ATG: I think they will play it somewhere in the middle of the setlist, not in encore. Now I’m thinking they easly could play CSIT as encore opener.
I agree with the former. As for the latter - no chance. It will only be the opener.
I think that the 5 senjutsu songs will be at the first part of the show with 2 o 3 other classics, then somewhere in time, and then final 2 o 3 songs
so 5 senjutsu songs + 2 classics +5 somewhere in time + 3 classics
I think the songs from both albums will be more mixed up.
im wondering if it would be Senjutsu Stage or a mix of Senjustu stage and SIT stage
I guess: a futuristic stage without a Senjutsu part in it.
It´s not even long enough for me...
Hear, hear!
I am anticipating 5 songs from each album listed. It would be blasphemy to play less than 5 from SIT given its absence over the years. I honestly would love them to pull a deep cut or 2 from more recent albums like they did on the Final Frontier tour...
We all expect 5 songs from each album because of the hint in the tour promo video, but it could be 4 from SIT. I wouldn't be surprised. Deep cut from the previous two albums? There won't be enough space. And I think Brave New World is the Reunion song with the best chance.
I think we may get Darkest Hour instead of The Parchment.
Almost nobody gives Darkest Hour a chance, but it's an easy song to play live, and Bruce has the privilege of choosing most of the setlist these days. He also wants to play The Time Machine live. Nicko likes Darkest Hour and The Parchment, so a Tears Of A Clown scenario is possible again.
He thinks it's the best ballad Adrian and Bruce have ever written.

I think they will save it for the 2nd leg (or not play it at all) because: they will want to play 2 epics, Writing On The Wall remains (the lead single), Days Of Future Past (the name of the tour) and I guess the last one will be the awesome live song, The Time Machine.
*Although the (album tour) setlist would be without a ballad-y song for the first time since 1998.
I really wish they would just drop their self titled song "Iron Maiden"... I know they feel obligated to play it but it's not a great song and takes up a slot in their set that a much better song could fit into.
Yeah, but they need a song for the big Eddie. The riff of it is great.

Glad to hear that and agree.

I think there are 3 given tracks from Senjutsu that will be played: Days Of Future Past (possibly as opener), Writing On The Wall and Hell On Earth. Other tracks are up in the air, however, I think The Time Machine has the strongest chance, while a return of Stratego is also a possibility if they are in need of a short track. The last spot will be filled by one of Parchement and Death Of The Celts IMO.

For SIT there are only 2 given songs: Wasted Years and Stranger In A Strange Land. The next most likely song is Alexander followed by Heaven Can Wait. From there on it's anyone's guess. Especially with Steve's comments about Loneliness, the rumoured rehearsal of Deja Vu in 2008, and Sea Of Madness and CSIT being played on the original tour.

So, predicting Senjutsu songs is much easier than SIT ones in my opinion.

Imagine Janick rocking up at the rehearsals to be greeted with this sight. ‘Hi, Janick. We’ve got ours. Did you bring yours… oh yeah you weren’t around then. LOL’.

(Not a Janick bashing post before you jump on me)
Well, some say that Jan was hidden behind that stack all along and those are his arms.

(Someone please photoshop Janick's head right above those GK's)

There are some Maiden songs that have never been played live and that I would like to see been played on stage like "Montségur" and "The New Frontier", for example, and some others that have already been played before, like "The Aftermath", "Blood On The World's Hands", "Afraid To Shoot Strangers" and so on, that I would like to be played once again before Maiden retirement.

Yes.

I'm curious if Steve will push for Long Distance Runner. If it doesn't work in rehearsals for them, no chance. It didn't work in 1986. I think Only The Good Die Young is more realistic than it, only because of Steve's comments again.
the rumoured rehearsal of Deja Vu in 2008
That's cool if true. If there's one song that doesn't need a solo/s to be great live - it's Deja-Vu! I guess it would have been a possible song for the tour if it had been played live before, although like almost every SIT song it's not that easy.

Only the Good Die Young is one of my favourite songs. Hearing it live would be amazing.

From what I've observed Hell On Earth is considered by many, if not the majority, to be the best song on the album. Even folks who say they hate the album say it's the only good song. It would seem it's an obvious choice to play live. I'm 100% positive they will rehearse it. Maybe they will determine "it just didn't work". If they do play it I would shorten the intro and cut out the outro ( strictly thinking about the general audience here), but I don't know if Steve would consider doing that

I still recall the post on the bands FB account not long after the album dropped pretty much acknowledging how loved Hell On Earth seems to be by fans, the Maiden camp are well aware its a fan favorite , it's also apparently Steves fav of all the epics too, its 100% in

Nicko was on record last year saying it's the song he's looking forward to playing live, so make of that what you will ....

Didn't Nicko already confirm what they intended to play (until plans changed and they did new songs on LOTB '22 and now a split SiT/Senjutsu tour) was Senjutsu, Stratego, TWOTW, The Time Machine, The Parchment and Hell on Earth? I seem to be under the impression I read this exact thing on these forums last year, which is presumably part of why people feel relatively confident in The Parchment over any of the other three Harris epics.

He mentioned those six songs at Rock N Roll Ribs.

I don’t think there is a good logic to performing The Parchment. It’s not too difficult to play or sing and it gives Bruce a chance to rest his voice in the middle.

I'm still not sure why so many are set on Stratego having to go as well. It was a single and, from what I've seen, has been a rather well-liked song from the record?

I still think we'll get The Writing on the Wall, Stratego and DoFP as the fast songs, and Hell on Earth and a to-be-determined epic as the epics. If you ask me, the only slot on the setlist that Senjutsu works is as the opener and even then it was a dud in that spot. If they do Caught Somewhere in Time, it's got to go in the opening slot. Days of Future Past to me sounds like a good song as a #2 or for something for the band to kick into right after the quiet outro of an epic.

About the vocals: The chorus is quite high (same range as the verses to The Trooper or HBTN), but for whatever reason it's always been much more challenging for Bruce to sing than the aforementioned songs. There's basically not a single bootleg from the original tour where Bruce didn't struggle with this song one way or another. Of course he was sick during a lot of the shows, but there are plenty where he did a decent job with other songs in that range, but still had troubles with CSIT.
I haven't heard a lot of bootlegs from SOT, I can only remember Paris, but wasn't the consensus that Bruce sounded bad during the whole tour and not just on the opening song? I might misinterpret some comments, but it was more “it's not like he couldn't, it seemed like he didn't want to"?

As for merchandise prices, here is an interesting article:
https://metalinjection.net/editoria...sinformed-and-its-something-we-should-discuss

As per Senjutsu songs on the setlist, I can also remember that social media post about "Hell on Earth". I think they are aware that people like it.

Also, this won't make sense, but I'll still say it:
"The Parchment" is the best thing the band has done in the last 35 years, and it isn't even the best song on the album.
