The Final Frontier charts' thread

Religion in America has little to no reason why they sell fewer albums here.  Those folks aren't buying rock records period, let alone Maiden ones.

Lackadaisical and unrealistic fans who expect Powerslave part 2, rampant downloaders, folks who's lives don't revolve around Maiden and who'll buy it eventually are more to blame than anything else.
I suppose that suggesting that the Christian right in America is actually responsible for holding them back was actually rather naive. South America is strictly Roman Catholic and Maiden are megastars there.

TFF is currently 3rd in the UK chart. It's highest 2nd week position since NotB. It probably is Maiden's lowest selling album ever, because it only came out 2 weeks ago ;)

Plus all the "negative" press just makes the band more desirable for kids to listen to.

It's #1 in Croatia second week, too  :rocker:

I don't think kids listen to something just because it gets negative press, unless it's rap music. The vast majority of people at my school actually believed all the crap press Metal gets in Britian. In English at Standard Grade level (equivalent to GCSE) we had to do a class talk, so I did mine on 'Stereotypes of Heavy Metal', it didn't have much of an effect on the rest of my class but my teacher was impressed at least and suggested I do an essay on it.

can anyone tell me how the iron maiden album the final frontier is doing in the uk chart this week, ive heard that its one of the poorest selling maiden albums ever in the uk with only 58.000. copies sold
May i ask where exactly did you "hear" that ?? It sold around 400 copies more than AMOLAD in its opening week. I don't know about week 2 but it must have done considerably better than AMOLAD .

Actually, on this point we do have a bit of bad news.  Though, TFF has a far better 2nd week chart position than AMOLAD, the actual total 2nd week sales run of TFF is less than the 2nd week sales run of AMOLAD.  This may seem odd, but it's down to a shrinking album market.

In fact, whilst Maiden are no doubt seeing a general slight increase in global sales with the TFF, the better chart positions are also linked to a weaker market compared to the one in 2006 when AMOLAD was released.

Another case on point, in its second week of release, TFF is charting at number 20 in the USA with about 20,000 copies sold.  AMOLAD was just outside the Top 40 on its second week of charting in the USA with the same sales.

Still, there's no denying that all this chart action is the best Maiden have had since their resurection in the charts since Brave New World (it's just not quite reflective in actual sales but that argument is all relative anyway)

It's all relative. CD sales are down across the board. Maiden aren't immune. But when the worldwide sales lull that everyone is dealing with is taken into account I think it's clear Maiden's popularity has grown.

@ Pilau and Genghis Khan - it's most definitely Slovenian (I'm from Croatia, the languages are similar). The quoted above states the following:

SLO Top 30 - The list of best selling albums in Slovenia, from 16 to 22 August 2010.

im from the uk and just bought the final frontier and its awful, the worst album they have done with bruce dickinson since fear of the dark, there are only 4 decent tracks being satellite 15 the final frontier, coming home, when the wild wind blows and isle of avalon. el dorado, the alchemist, mother of mercy and starblind are simply pathetic, the album is to boring and bruce sounds like a cat in pain, not a patch on there old stuff or even brave new world, dance of death, or amolad, sorry a really disappointed iron maiden fanatic from the uk
