The Final Frontier charts' thread

The same person that is buying the Maiden album will be buying a Techno or Rap cds without a second thought.

Hmm... I have to say, I've never seen or heard this happen.  People who listen to metal usually listen to metal and rock, and maybe some other stuff too, but very rarely techno or rap.  I get your point, but I think you're stretching it with this example. ;)

The Final Frontier is officially No:1 album in the world. It sold 249.000 in its release week (AMOLAD first week sales: 175.000).

I don't think these are worldwide sales , they seem to be sales from the markets that this site covers (10 markets) although they do give an indication even though they are missing many smaller market where the album is selling like crazy (like Scandinavia ) and provide a comparison with AMOLAD.

To be honest that site reminds me of VGchartz and it doesn't seem to be very reliable.

Second edit : Yep that site is amateurish (its layout already suggested that) with data from very few markets and "estimation" from the rest . TFF has sold around 150k in U.S+U.K+Germany so are we supposed to believe that it sold less than 100k in the rest of the world when , for example, it sold over 20k (certified gold) just in Sweden in its first week ??

The official IM website says TFF is number one in Arabia. What country do they mean?

United Arab Emirates (maybe even only the Dubai emirate).

That's a very good remark, but I was thinking it the opposite way. There are huge markets that they are not represented here, like Egypt, Turkey, India & China.
These markets function almost exclusively with local artists, thus while it's possible Iron Maiden to be the no1 worldwide, I really doubt for AC/DC's no31 with 31,000 pieces sold.

Abu Dhabi for sure & Sharjah emirate quite possibly as well.
As far as Dubai, TFF had an -apparently- phenomenal quick distribution (only took 3 days)
But who knows maybe Arabia refers to the peninsula (SA, Oman, Bahrain etc) which has a common distributor.

Hmmmm... I think you're right. Sales should be bigger.
Much bigger , IMO like at least double since Maiden cds are selling abnormaly high in smaller markets. The cd must have done around 50k in its first week just in Scadinavia .

I'm actually more interested how it does in the second and third weeks.  You know, after all us crazy diehard fans have already bought our 23 different copies.

Remember reading it took 3 weeks for AMOLAD to shift 500,000. Possibly 250,000 in TFF's first week is close to being accurate??
The numbers don't match up , unless it went to n.1 in countries like Spain, Italy, France e.t.c by selling...5 copies.

According to Wikipedia, AMOLAD sold 1,000,000 worldwide week one.  Can't seem to find the citation though.

Um... I'm one of said folks :D, while it might not be rap or techno (personally can't stand either genre) I do buy country, folk, jazz, some indie, several female artists (specially in Spanish). The Mexican music market is VERY European in that sense. I can by a Maiden Cd and a Mariachi CD and people won't look at me weird.

It went up in its second week in Belgium (from 6 to 2) , fell slightly while staying at a very respectable 4 in the Netherlands (from 2) and fell to 11 in Ireland (from 3) .

As far as solid sales numbers go i don't think that we can get many except from a few from the very big markets (namely U.S and U.K) .

Not due to your music preference, anyway.

Croatia - Iron Maiden's debut album holds number 14 at charts
Of course, TFF is #1 and no-one had any doubts about that  :D

This would be my favorite possible setlist... 6 songs from TFF, 6 songs from "2000" era songs, and then 4 classics (not sure what to classify "Sign of the Cross" as, but I'd say a 2000 era song)

The Final Frontier 2011 World Tour

1. Satellite 15... The Final Frontier
2. El Dorado
3. Rainmaker
4. The Trooper
5. The Longest Day
6. For The Greater Good Of God
7. Mother Of Mercy
8. The Alchemist
9. Brave New World
10. Sign Of The Cross
11. When The Wild Wind Blows
12. Fear Of The Dark
13. Iron Maiden

ENCORE
14. Journeyman
15. Coming Home
16. Hallowed Be Thy Name
