The lack of Peace Sells tracks makes this a hard skip for me, even if I like a good portion of KIMB.
They still played the title track from Peace Sells…, but yeah. Although I have to say that “Skull Beneath The Skin”, “Chosen Ones”, and “Looking Down The Cross” are just killer live. And of course, you would already agree that everything from SFSGSW would be awesome!

Low ticket sales, I'm assuming? Closing the balcony is step one in making the artist feel like the show is full.
I guess. The place was a 700 capacity venue that’s mostly GA floor with a single-row balcony and 6 VIP booths down one side. The floor seemed about half full, and I’m guessing no one bought a VIP booth since my balcony tickets got us placed in the frontmost booth. Not a bad way to see a show, though…

Yeah, those would be cool to see. How was the singer?
Better than I’d expected based on the videos I’d seen of earlier shows. He did a good enough Mustaine impersonation, and he actually sounded quite good about half the time and a little more out of breath and not so locked in for the other half, though trying to sing while playing Mustaine’s guitar parts would be pretty brutal for anyone. He did a reasonably good job overall.

Saw Powerwolf on Friday. I'm not the world's biggest Powerwolf fan, but they're certainly a bigger power metal band and I wanted to see them on their first tour. They hadn't announced a support act but when I showed up at the venue (the lovely MTELUS venue in Montreal) Seven Kingdoms was selling merch. They played a tight 10 song act and were perfectly fun. Lovely surprise for power metal/cheese fans.

Powerwolf themselves were pretty good. The singer is a bit naff and the content is a little foolish, but he had great crowd interplay skills. Not the most mobile on stage but the keyboardist made up for that. I had a fun time, but I also hit the coat check during the break before the encore and bounced as soon as it finished. Overall, really fun though!

Saw Suede yesterday. Very good show, approximately 80 minutes with a frenetic pace Ramones-style and no pauses if we exclude an acoustic interpretation of The Wild Ones, and the short gap before the encore. Brett Anderson is an impressive frontman!

The setlist included 7 songs off their latest album, plus some assorted classics.

Turn Off Your Brain and Yell
Personality Disorder
15 Again
The Drowners
Animal Nitrate
We Are the Pigs
It Starts and Ends With You
Pantomime Horse
Another No One
The Only Way I Can Love You
She Still Leads Me On
Shadow Self
Can't Get Enough
The Wild Ones (Brett solo acoustic)
Black Ice
So Young
Metal Mickey
Beautiful Ones

Trash

The opening band, Desperate Journalist, were pretty good. Female-fronted post-punk.

This is a longshot, but worth a try - I have one ticket to see Wishbone Ash this upcoming Sunday (March 12th) at Sportsmen Tavern in Buffalo NY. I can't go anymore. If you want the ticket, it's yours (free of charge).

As it seems the rumours about AC/DC playing some gigs in 2023 did not crystallise into a tour, I have decided to go and see Dirty DC instead.

First gig will be in Guildford on 11th March 2023 and the second one at Painshill Park on 29th June 2023.

Dirty DC were absolutely brilliant at the very aptly named Boileroom last Saturday. The place was heaving (sold out show) and boiling! 2 hours and 15 minutes of great AC/DC tracks, hits and other songs that do not get played that often (e.g., Get it Hot or Let Me Put My Love Into You).

Support band were Traction; good hard rock with several members of Dirty DC.

Sacred Reich are a killer live band!

About week and half ago I took my son to see Queensryche in Webster (South of Houston near NASA) TX.
1st opening act was Trauma. Cool 80s Bay Area Thrash.
Next was Marty Friedman with his all Japanese band (Marty is why my son wanted to go as he loves Megadeth). Marty and his band were very energetic and place was PACKED during his performance.
Then stage was set up for Queensryche and Michael Wilton walked out on stage and says "I have some bad news. Todd is sick in bed on the bus and cannot sing. We have to find a Dr to determine of he can even perform tomorrow night in Dallas"
Then the club owner/manager says he will get with Queensryche's agent to reschedule for late April.

We then left the club and met Marty's band in the parking lot. They were very cool.

100 mile round trip for 2 opening bands.

Took my son and best buddy to see Death to All (Death tribute).
Gene Hoglan on drums
Steve DiGiorgio on bass
Bobby Koelble (from Symbolic) on co-lead
Max Phelps on AMAZING vocals and co-lead

Unlike Left To Die, who only played songs from 1st 2 Death lps, DTA played songs from EVERY LP!
What a GREAT Night!
Far exceeded expectations!

Saw W.A.S.P on Saturday night, good show, most of the set was from the first album and The Crimson Idol. They played part of Animal in a medley with The Real Me, something which I haven't seen them play since the first time I saw them in 2004

My worst club show nightmare.
I hope none of our Maidens Fans members were there:

Truly awful. Based on the footage I’ve seen, I’m actually shocked that there has only been one death. A miracle, indeed.

I finally committed to getting a day ticket for Dominion Festival, County Durham, for May 6 (also Coronation day, but that's besides the point). It's mostly for Atlantean Kodex, who are headlining the second stage - or 'headlicing' as I just managed to type - but also want to see Sodom and Tygers of Pan Tang. Blind Guardian are headlining the Friday, and I know Black Wiz is going to that, but I only want to do one day.

Incidentally, a work colleague introduced me to his new girlfriend on Friday night, and asked if I'll be going to his 40th birthday party on May 6. I explained I had a festival to go, when his girlfriend piped up that she loves Atlantean Kodex and wants to go to that instead :D

Nice choice for 6th May. I will be in the Socialist Republic of Wales to escape the serf-like attitude that would be so prevalent in England that day (hard to believe in the 21st century). Always a citizen, never a subject.
