Well @The Flash
to be fair - I can't find weak song at this point. Production is not amazing (waiting for CD to judge that on something better than my phone with headphones) but songs, riffs, blasts from the past (Wasted Years!) are mindblowing. I can't praise all songs but I wish I could.

I like a lot

If eternity should fail
The great unknown
The red and the black
The book of souls
Death and glory

strange felling

When the river......WTF! i expected an epic chorus! and the went down....
Tears of a clown
Dont like
the man of sorrows
The empire of clouds. i was expecting a great intstrumental part not that guitar lessons. The piano its ok.

I haven't seen it being praised here so far, so here goes

The Man of Sorrows, at first listen, was the most impressive song for me. Davey worked his magic again. Such a beautiful, emotional and a "fresh" sounding song.
I love every song Davey has been in on. Killer tune for sure. I enjoy how they tend to be towards the end of albums as well.

TMoS is incredible. I sang my praises for it in its thread, but yeah, this might just be my new favorite from Dave. New territory for the band; beautiful, yet disturbing. Both he and Bruce are especially impressive on that song.

Oh well. I will reduce it to a 12 minute masterpiece. Not a big deal. 6 minutes + 4 minutes of The Red and the black = 82 minutes of a perfect single CD.

Great, now that you've got that out of the way...Are you going to start talking about the things you actually like about the album now? You know the other 82 mins?

I agree, Man of Sorrows was the only song that resonated with me on first listen Probably the most "Maiden" song on the album. The rest fell flat on me.

EotC had some laughably bad moments. That repeating generic riff that goes on and on. The other riff that's nearly identical to The Legacy Janick riff (the bridge that goes into the solos). The piano playing was pretty sub-par but Bruce isn't exactly Chopin or anything. I expected so much more after the glowing reviews saying the album was worth it for this song alone. Doesn't hold a candle to Dance of Death or Rime of the Ancient Mariner

OK then.

So in reading these reviews on maidenfans so far. The members whom I believe have great taste and understand/appreciate maiden have given the best most positive feedback.
So far a negative review from a negative member. Predictable and thrown away. And a negative from what seems to be a troll. So outstanding so far!! Waiting for my cd on the 4th to make up my own mind. :dancinggeek::shred:
