I'm pretty sure journalist reviews in established publications will be officially sanctioned - there has definitely been press stuff going on, and any publication that breaks an embargo knows it'll never be trusted by the industry again. It's not worth them taking the risk if they're told not to run anything yet. I'm still not sure why the Glide interview with Janick has gone. I suspect the sheer volume of visitors caused them problems, rather than them being told to take it down.

Bit of a puzzle that. I thought of e-mailing them to ask but yeaaah. Mosh's guess that it was taken down because they linked to the Making of the Final Frontier documentary is a good guess...but a mistake that's easy to rectify and it's still down.

It could also be damage control on something that Janick might have said within the interview, such as that comment that he'd prefer for no one to hear anything off the album before its release. Found it rather ironic how he said that in the interview and then the next day, we got our first snippet of the album.

I'm pretty certain that wasn't what he said. He said that he personally prefers waiting for albums instead of getting it in bits and pieces. And then he questioned if that whole era of taking your record home on release day and listening was passe now in this day and age.

Fair enough. Just speculating on my part.

The Glide article went down several times and came up with the TFF documentary still there. Other articles with full details have disappeared too. A bit baffling, because if there was something that shouldn't have got out, I'm very surprised it was Janick who let it out. And it would surely have gone down fast and stayed down, before word travelled far and wide.

Perhaps an intern policy not to talk too much to journalists before the album is actually out? When Nicko did that radio show he also just kept it very standard "Very proud of the new album", "Feels like its one of our best albums" etc...But that's just me speculating now ;)

And Maiden/Steve probably chose Kerrang to be the lucky mag to have that one exclusive interview....

Still confusing, in my book, spokesmen of any sort are usually very well briefed. Most of the details of the interview are still up on a couple of big music websites, too. I'll watch this new article and see what happens, but it makes a news thread difficult to run if apparently above-board news suddenly vanishes.

This is a mess. Obviously Rod thinks that Bruce's health issues are a good selling strategy....if not the only one at the moment.

Okay! I've got to the bottom of the Glide interview with Janick Gers. Publication of the article has been temporarily postponed. The magazine says they'll post about it on their social media platforms when it's back up.

thanks. scaling anticipation back slightly. but even if you take out all superlatives it still sounds badass.

Exactly. He's a fan so there's always going to be a bit of bias. Also, Maiden are arguably the biggest metal band in the world, so a magazine like Metal Hammer is never going to slaughter them, but I find with Dom, his reviews single out the nuances that other Maiden fans are looking for, he knows what Maiden fans are going to like.

Btw do you believe that Speed Of Light is going to be a digital download only single (just like El Dorado)? It seems unlikely that they're going to release a physical copy with no official announcement 13 days before the supposed release date...

It is being released physically, as a Best Buy exclusive (at least here in USA). Best Buy sold out of pre-order stock weeks ago; it's unknown if they saved any for store shelves.

However, I haven't heard of any other physical release plans. Looks like, if you don't get the Best Buy single, all you're gonna get is a download until Sep. 4.

A small tidbit from Kevin Shirley's Facebook page:

"I'm in Nashville, putting an absolutely incredible band through their paces, rehearsing for Joe Bonamassa's "Three Kings" tour, which begins next week (dates here - http://jbonamassa.com/tour-dates/). I'll see the first couple of shows then catch them next when they hit the West coast, where we are going to film and record the show at The Greek theater in L.A. on August 29.
One of the first album's I ever owned, was Neil Diamond's "Hot August Night", recorded at the same venue - so it's a kinda cool link. That album, and Led Zeppelin Official's "The Song Remains The Same", where my first live albums I owned - the movie poster adorned my bedroom wall - and then I got to remix it about ten years ago... what a trip this life has been for me, and continues to be!
I'm also really, really excited about the new Iron Maiden release on Sept 4 - I have preordered my book (I make a point of purchasing a copy of every album I produce)! "

Well, his Final Frontier diary was released on the official Maiden website only after the album was released. It also might have been written at a later date if I'm not mistaken (there might have been a note by Shirley saying something like that). So I think chances are pretty good of getting a TBOS studio diary. But only after September 4th.

You got that right Ranko. The diaries were available after the release. This is where he says that the lower register vocals on Isle of Avalon was Shirley's idea......the original ones were too high. Note : I hate this singing part
