I'll shoot the gunner first!

Yeah, but having a deal with a store (which doesn't even ships worldwide) for a few physical copies, does not make it an official release. They printed some physical copies for El Dorado too, but only for promotional use. The official format of the single was "digital download".It is being released physically, as a Best Buy exclusive (at least here in USA). Best Buy sold out of pre-order stock weeks ago; it's unknown if they saved any for store shelves.
However, I haven't heard of any other physical release plans. Looks like, if you don't get the Best Buy single, all you're gonna get is a download until Sep. 4.
Not much salient information regarding the new album in the fan magazine, apart from the fact that Dave apparently was aiming for a Number of the Beast/Piece of Mind era style guitar sound.
EDIT: Also a pretty cool picture of the band standing in front of a Mayan-style pyramid.
The management doesn't share some views Janick has expressed.I'm still not sure why the Glide interview with Janick has gone.
Exactly my thoughts. It could also be damage control on something that Janick might have said within the interview, such as that comment that he'd prefer for no one to hear anything off the album before its release. Found it rather ironic how he said that in the interview and then the next day, we got our first snippet of the album.

Exactly my thoughts.
That review elevated my curiosity for the Red and the Black.
Harris takes too much shit in this forum, IMO, but his dominance as a songwriter has faded a bit.
This track is just 12 seconds shorter than Rime and is described as having a lot going on.
Does Steve have another Clansman/Sign of the Cross in him?
I'm curious about that song too, as there was a lot in that song description that I liked. If he's got another Clansman or Sign of the Cross in him for this, I'll be stoked. That said, it's probably the epic I'm least interested in hearing. Bruce writing two entirely on his own has, which open and close the album, is a really tantalizing prospect and Janick's really consistent in the quality of his epics, but I'm curious to see if the title track is more along the lines of The Legacy or Dance of Death.
Yes, I think title track and 18-minute Bruce track are going to generate more hype.
Book of Souls sounds very Dance of Death in its description, while I'm getting the vibe Eternity may not be a full-blown epic, but more a heavy monster track with a drawn-out atmospheric intro.
Judging from the review..If Eternity Should Fail should really be something. At the same time psychedelic and the heaviest track Maiden ever did? Yes, please, gimme
13 days to Speed Of Light!
It will be interesting to see how easy it is to pick my favorite song on this one. With BNW, it was Dream Of Mirrors after one listen. With DOD, it was DOD. And with TFF, it was The Talisman. But with AMOLAD, it took forever to decide between the 3 longest songs and it finally ended up being The Legacy which was interesting because I didn't really like that one at first. Hopefully it won't be too much of a challenge this time around.
My bet is on the song Book of Souls by Janick. The mayan theme sounds cool and the song should have a specific groove. It'll be one of the two Bruce tracks for me, I think. He's my favorite songwriter in the band and the descriptions of both of his songs really grab my attention.
