TBOS Predictions

Oh man the floyd had some excellent vocals. The contrast of waters thick English offerings and gilmoures silky tones... Very strong. And very much a force in the music. I much prefer either to Barrett ....but this is fodder for another place. But yes, please don't minimize the impact of Dickinson in maiden. He is the frontman of all frontmen.

Just to put it straight.I would love to see Maiden do more things like TFF intro. Of course not using the demo tape but have the whole band play. Just to do something different. Well, that then would be really progressive and Maiden would do something unique. If there is a band out there that can pull it off,it would be Maiden. The structures Steve uses are getting a bit overused. It is getting disturbing to watch H,Dave and Jan play simple chords for entire songs. There are so many things that they could with the guitars.

I agree but Pink Floyd's instrumental side was just as important to their sound, which is why they could pull off an almost entirely instrumental album. Maiden don't even write instrumentals anymore, to do an all instrumental album would just be removing a vital element of their sound for no good reason.

Oh I agree that their vocals were nice, but they always put more emphasis on the instrumental side of things. And they were very much an ambient-like band in many albums so it's not that surprising to see them come up with an entirely instrumental album.

Well said. Wright wasn't half bad at singing either!

Gilmour was the most consistently great vocalist in PF, but I think Waters hit it out of the ballpark when he sang most of the lead vocals on Animals.

My Guesses

Album order:

1. If Eternity Should Fail (solely based on the name, and Bruce writing it.)
2. The Book of Souls (The most consistently good song writer IMO.)
3. Empire of the Clouds
4. The Red and the Black (WTWWB was the best thing on the last album, so I have faith!)
5. Tears of a Clown
6. Speed of Light
7. Shadows of the Valley
8. The Man of Sorrows
9. The Great Unknown
10. Death or Glory
11. When the River Runs Deep (I'm tired of war songs, and I feel like this might be one.)

1. If Eternity Should Fail (Possibly one of the best song names ever from the band, plus it's written by Bruce. Moreover, it's a bit less of a gamble than Empire is.)
2. Empire of the Clouds (If Bruce nails this, it could quite easily become Maiden's greatest accomplishment as a band. It's a huge risk, but I feel relatively safe in betting that it'll turn out awesome.)
3. Speed of Light (Bruce and Adrian, back at it)
4. The Book of Souls (Hoping for another Legacy-tier song. Janick's really consistent, but I'm hoping for one of his stronger pieces this time around.)
5. The Red and the Black
6. Death or Glory
7. Shadows of the Valley
8. The Great Unknown
9. The Man of Sorrows
10. When the River Runs Deep
11. Tears of a Clown

I think Disc 1 will be stronger

I think Disc 1 will be more immediately accessible, while Disc 2 will be more of a grower.

I think the song with the most repetitive chorus will be Death or Glory.

Either that or The Red and the Black.

If Bruce is credited?

Well ALL THESE YEARS I had the impression that the number of repetitions and general structure was done by Steve. Not once I thought that Bruce said something like.....ok guys let's repeat the chorus until we drop dead. His lyrics are used for the song and there was also a much better chorus version for theUS radio.........but maybe just maybe he did the the structuring of the chorus............:facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:

number of repetitions and general structure was done by Steve.
And maybe it did. Without an interview, though, I can't see it being assumed. Yes, many Steve-only songs have repetitive choruses. Many Steve-lyric songs do not.

Another Smith-Harris-Dickinson that has a repetitive chorus - The Evil That Men Do. Which, by the way, people rarely complain about when they complain about repetitive choruses, but it's actually a VERY lyrically boring song.

Writing a "chorus" is part of lyric writing. You write song lyrics by seperating them into parts. Verse, pre-chorus, chorus and so on. There's a good chance the repetitions are written on the paper.

I always assumed that this was a chorus by Steve. I know that by assuming you don't prove anything.I can only say that on the songs that B wrote with H (in Maiden and solo albums) there is none of the repetiveness seen once Steve is also contributing.

They ain't watching you,
They ain't watching you now,

Shoot all the clowns
Shoot 'em down
Shoot 'em down
Shoot 'em down

I will not accept the truth
I will not accept the truth
I will not accept the truth
that I'll never get there no way

I must not push forward... no
I must not push forward... no
I must not push forward... no
because I'll never get there
never get there... no way

I will not believe your lies
I will not believe your lies
I will not believe your lies
you say I'll never get there
never get there, well hold on..

Who leads you to the dark secret?
Who leads you to the dark secret?

The Magician is my name
The Magician is my name

And magic is my game

Cover your eyes with the velvet hands of darkness
Cover your eyes with the velvet hands of darkness

Arise, awake, The King in Crimson comes
Arise, awake, The King in Crimson comes
Arise, awake, The King in Crimson comes

And so we lay, we lay in the same grave
Our chemical wedding day
And so we lay, we lay in the same grave

Let it rain
Let it rain
Tears of blood fall out of the sky
Let it rain
Let it rain
Wash me clean again...

U got a point there but please let me state that nothing beats : TAATG,FTGGOG,DLTTEOAS,The Nomad,The mercenary,NML,The longest day (who wrote that?).Funnily enough I did not find any of the choruses in the last three Bruce solo albums annoying.
