I didn't even dare to THINK that, let alone to write it, but who knows. In my wildest dreams, I'm hoping that a full recovery would urge the guys to do more in the remaining time. In 2012, Steve expressed his will to "cram as much as possible before [he] hits the bucket" (puzzling at first for a french guy ). Maybe the others will see it the same way.

I think it's only natural to hold on to all kinds of promotion and announcements until Bruce gets the all clear. I've also been thinking...If the prognosis hadn't been good, I wonder if Maiden would release the album at all...What do you guys think?

If the album is actually done, and Bruce's performance is fully recorded, that album will see the light of day no matter what. I guess there's a silver lining in that no matter the prognosis, we'll still have a new Maiden album.

Yeah I think you're right. But it would be a tough album to buy, knowing that it would be the unintended swansong.... but better that than a "lost Iron Maiden" album sitting in someones vault.

The thing is, even if the situation turns really wrong for him, it won't be a matter of weeks or months, but, normally, of years (and believe me, I feel really shitty to write this). So I don't them keeping the album unrealeased for such a long time.

No, definitely not. This is just speculation like if the treatment HAD affected his singing ability and he couldn't perform anymore or what not....Pure speculation and what if's. THANKFULLY we know that he is doing well and that there will be a new album out :)

Ya, I can see a tour for the new album as well as a final farewell tour, but then again you never know what Maiden has left in them.

A new fantasy I have for the new album even though I know it won't happen in a million years is that it's a sequel to Seventh Son and they tour and do both albums back to back.

Or maybe just skip the Seventh Son sequel and do Maiden England IV. :D

Didn't Adrian state -some time ago- that they wanted to follow a "shorter songs" approach on this new album?

On That Metal Show yeah. Steve Harris also went on there and said that there would more Iron Maiden albums (plural). That was in 2013 I believe.

I have no doubt that the delay in announcing has to do with the short term timing of Bruce's cancer. Since the band, naturally, wants to support their album with a tour, they would like to know whether or not they have a singer. If Bruce's prognosis is great, they can plan some dates. If it is good, not good enough to sing but likely to get there, they can come up with a timeframe. If his prognosis is bad, then they can decide what they want to do.

Simply put, they don't want to tour too far after the album, and they don't want to be put in a position to cancel a bunch of dates.

I expect we'll get the full story about this as the tour and album press run develop. It should be the #1 question asked from every interviewer.

There may be another area for this, and I believe they want to announce the album at the same time they announce Bruce's cancer is gone/in remission. Why? Because the global metal community is currently in absolute shock, in absolute awe, waiting for good news. If the album comes out with the good news, or is announced with it, anticipation for it will go through the roof. It could finally be their #1 album in the US.
