I get this Foro, I really do, but I think the primary focus should be — and appears to be — what is best for Bruce.
I would imagine Bruce entered the doctor's office in December pumped up about the new album and excited about getting the new music out to the fans. Then the cancer threw everyone for a loop. It appears the band made a call to put everything on hold until they see how the treatment takes, fingers crossed they would be able to proceed as planned, as a whole band. It seems they will be able to make a call on that in May.
Put yourself in Bruce's shoes: wouldn't you want to be part of the excitement of unveiling your art to the world?
As his bandmate, wouldn't you insist on giving him that opportunity?
Yes, I understand this is the best thing, supporting Bruce psychologically, but I am doubting if this is really a smart thing to do, from a medical point of view. I am surprised that this would be possible, and it would annihilate Maturin's and other not very optimistic views I've read here. I am no medic, but a lot of talking, not long after cancer (treatment) on a tongue, that sounds as an odd thing to do. Then again, I am no specialist. But at the moment, I do not find it a realistic thought, to
hear Bruce raving about the album, within a couple of months. I have trouble with imagining that this
is the best thing for Bruce.
And waiting (e.g.) 6 extra months (after May) with the promo talk, because Bruce could join, that's something difficult for me to imagine as well. Also for the band, I bet. To put so much effort into an album, after not being productive for 5 years, and then just have it sit in a drawer for a year(!), believe me, artists do not like that.
What I say may sound a little contradictive:
- Don't come into action too soon, Bruce. Be careful.
- Don't wait with the album too long, Maiden.
I think the band will look for a balance between the two, possibly a combination of both.
