Senjutsu - 3rd September 2021

Stratego would certainly start a wonderful week if released tomorrow. I guess they would inform us beforehand...I mean regarding a new single

But Maiden fans bitch about everything and still listen to the new music. Its amazing.
There's a saying about Star Wars. "No one hates Star Wars more than Star Wars fans." Am I starting to see a parallel here?

Original Trilogy = Classic Era
Prequels= Blaze Era
Disney Trilogy= Reunion Era

Everyone loves the Original Trilogy. Most don't like/hate the Prequels. Disney Trilogy are a mixed bag, many love and hate/don't like.

SW fans nitpick the films to death and often argue amongst themselves...sounds a little familiar.

Done a little forum archive research- Book Of Souls was leaked at 28 August, 7 days before it’s release at 4th September. So starting August 27 we might get something, but I’ll also wait stratego song release. Maybe a next week release, what do you think?
I posted that earlier, about the week early leak, and how in the last 6 years, that's been a very rare exception. 99% of the time, leaked albums aren't online until the day before official release. Even those "leaks" are just from time differences in other parts of the world. My money is on no leak until September 2nd.

For me, more or less:

IM>K<TNOTB>POM<P>SIT<SSOASS>NPFTD<FOTD>TXF=VIX<BNW>DOD<AMOLAD>TFF<TBOS

So, the albums in-between the bold ones are inferior, symmetric coincidence?

From the reviews it seems:
Hell on Earth, The Time Machine and Days of Future past will be absolute classics. Those 3 will probably be liked by all (excluding the maiden "fans" here waiting for good music since 1988). The rest may divide fan opinion, especially Senjutsu and Lost in a lost world
^ And this song, I think:
-> Stratego. 100% agree about the aforementioned three songs.

I also agree about the two songs that may divide fans opinion. It seems they are ''different'' - Darkest Hour too.

I'm guessing that there's no new songs written by Bruce, alone, because they're being saved for his newest solo album. After all, If Eternity Should Fail, was written for his solo album, until Steve "stole" it.

I wonder how this really works. Steve: "Hey Bruce, do you have any songs for the new Maiden album?", Bruce: "Nope, sorry, just a few ideas." "OK, empty your pockets!" "But, look..." "Empty your pockets! What's that? A new song as I can see? It's mine now!"

Well

Well Bruce does have around 25 songs written for his solo album. Hes probably kept them well away from steves ears this time aha

Which song received the least praise from the reviews so far? I would say ''Lost In A Lost World'' (or ''The Writing On The Wall'').

It's hard to say because there is a good amount of praise for every song.

Edit: Not that it matters much.

hey there just joined this forum. Well based on the release dates of Aces High and Sign of the Cross prior to release of NOTD, I too believe Stratego should release tomorrow. On iTunes Stratego n WOTW are the only 2 songs whose duration are mentioned but I am really rooting for Stratego release this coming week if not tomorrow.

Well

Thought he had 16 songs written. Also he will use Eternity for his solo album and apparently one of the tracks is called Nightmare. I believe it will be a dark album in addition to it being a concept one.

This might very well be an album with no fillers. That hasn’t happened in a looong time.
Lost in a Lost World seems to be the least appealing to the reviewers, but I’ve amused myself reading the old track run throughs from TFF and TBOS and with hindsight it doesn’t give that much clues to how the songs actually sounded like, but it’s good fun to read while waiting.

Wellcome @redandtheblack92 I tnink Roy Z said they got 17 songs. Well, it would be great if we could get somenew music next week. I however doubt it would come out of nowhere. So I expect an announcement or something.

I must admit my understanding of how maiden recorded their past 3 albums was totally wrong. When Steve said we put ourselves under pressure and recorded the album in 6 weeks, I thought they go into the studio mostly blank, with rough outlines of songs and then jam and record whatever that comes out immediately. I thought that is what Steve meant by capturing the essence of a live/organic sound. I believed it even more so when i first heard TFF because a lot of the mid instrumental sections did sound like a prog/blues jam session to me.

However, I don't think even a band as talented and experienced as maiden, could possibly bang out an album out of nothing in 6 weeks. Definitely not something as intricate and epic as Book of Souls. A more accurate picture (in my view) is that the band members have learnt to go into the studio with almost fully developed demos and tons of extra riffs/harmonies that could fit into any of the instrumental section of the epics. This is pretty much confirmed by Adrian's interview where he said he had demo tapes for 4 songs for Senjutsu. I am pretty sure the rest of the band probably does the same. So i assume what they do is basically rehearse and polish/embellish things when they are in the studio and then record it in a live setting in 6 weeks.

honestly I don't value others reviews but only my own. The Man Who Would be King is my fav track off of TFF and its the most hated track (or one of the most hated) on that album. So no comments until hearing it yourself and take your own call then.

glad to be here bud. I doubt they'll announce in advance but keep an eye out on their youtube channel, Instagram, twitter and fb. It'll be a surprise I feel. And regarding solo album, I believe 2025 would be the year we might prolly see it come out. Hell it would mark 20 years for Tyranny so it's kinda poetic.

TBOS was recorded in a span of 4 months (Sept - Dec of 2014). I think same is for Senjutsu (I think Jan - April 2019). Having read all Senjutsu reviews, I'm pretty sure its gonna be another complex album like TBOS.

My point of view is that if any long album has 40 - 45 minutes that I'm into, then that's a win. Just like the old days when 99% of albums were between 30 - 45 minutes in length. So, I only have to like about half of the 82 minute new album to be satisfied.
