Do we have to assume that Raven Age will play without George Harris?
Because he has these health problems where no treatment could be found.

Damn, that really sucks for him. I've been having issues in my right hand for the last 3 years. Being forced to stop following your dreams and something you love because of your body is just all around a shitty situation. Hopefully he'll be able to continue at some point in the future.

My most travelled friend says Argentina is the country she would go back to. But she speaks Spanish, she was in Buenos Aires when they won the World Cup and fell into the underground rave scene when she was there, so I'd wager that her Argentine experience would differ significantly from mine. Still, I'll take all opinions on board yo.

I spent a few months on exchange in Argentina. It's such a beautiful country, and Buenos Aires is my favourite city that I've travelled to. (As I mentioned in another post, Argentina should be as wealthy as Australia or Canada, but it's been bled dry by decades of corruption and mismanagement).

When I went (around a decade ago), it offered incredible value. You could get a very good dinner, with steak and red wine, for $15-20 USD. (I'm far from fluent, but learning some basic Spanish definitely helps). There's surprising variety in the restaurants. It's more than just meat and potatoes - I tried Peruvian, Uruguayan, Jewish, German, and Cameroonian cuisine (among many others).

The two things that make Argentina especially interesting - Buenos Aires has many different neighbourhoods ("barrios"), most of which have distinct personalities. Upscale Recoleta could pass for Paris or Madrid (but is located next to a dangerous slum, which I nearly wandered into). San Telmo (the oldest barrio, featuring beautiful but often decaying architecture) and Puerto Madero (the newest, featuring fancy restaurants and the waterfront) are adjacent. Palermo is trendy and has a lot of great bars, restaurants and graffiti (nearby Belgrano and Villa Crespo are similar, but quieter). La Boca is dangerous (but worth visiting - if you're careful).

The other thing that's interesting about Argentina is it spans a huge distance from north to south, which creates a lot of geographical variety. The northern part is in the Amazon rainforest (the highlight is Iguazu Falls, a series of powerful waterfalls spanning more than a kilometer). There's the Atlantic coast, the vast plains ("pampas"), the Andes mountains (there are some great wineries in the foothills near Mendoza), and the south (which features mountains and glaciers - it reminded me of Canada's Arctic).

I also spent 2-3 weeks in Chile and really enjoyed it. Santiago is a beautiful city as well (somewhat safer than Buenos Aires, but also more expensive).

Yep, the biggest question for me is how many more countries they tour next year.

Gets me thinking... Metallica just played their first ever show in Qatar. The high end concert offerings in Singapore has also really picked up since Maiden last played there in 2011. Japan and Australia are more usual stops, and by late 2026 it will be 2 years since maiden last played there... I'm sure there are great offers from a variety of places and promotors for Maiden right now.

The release of the documentary, if its global and on a major streaming service, will also deliver a fresh global boost to Maiden's profile next year.

I hope for Japan (2) in Tokyo, maybe Saitama Arena, Singapore (1), Indonesia (1) stadium/open air show, NZ (1) - small stadium, Australia (3) outdoors/small stadiums, India - even Def Leppard is about to play there, who knows. Some 8 - 10 shows would be great.

i think the australian one is gonna be the same as the future past tour run.

And here we are. Those prognoses seem overly optimistic. There is no need for the 3rd dates in SP or Santiago; two dates in Buenos Aires seem to be too many. The sales are rather slower than the management predicted, and maybe one night in these three cities will be enough. Even in Sao Paulo/Brazil, where (apparently) Iron Maiden has so many fans. This isn't a good omen, and it certainly wasn't Smallwood's plan. Perhaps after the show at SP, the band will take a few days off, similar to what they're doing with Buenos Aires.
 
A third show in Sao Paulo is looking likely on the 28th, and that's it for South America. But I think we might get the remaining countries announced before that one.
