RUN FOR YOUR LIVES WORLD TOUR (2025/2026)

Please, let's not start with them being "senile" now. Dementia is not a joke and people are throwing these words around far too carelessly.

That won't happen because we have you who tells everybody the right point of view and who is immature, who is weird etc.

The commenter did not even use the word "dementia". "Senile" means less physically and mentally capable due to age.

I would not use "senile" either because it can be seen as offensive but "dementia" was brought in by you not him.

Eh, it depends on the dictionary. It's not uncommon to define senility as age related dementia.
As for the bolded, it seems you agree with my overall point, so is it worth it arguing semantics when we agree on the broader point?

Ah, good to finally know it depends on the dictionary! I have learned in my medical training it is an incorrect definition that laypersons sometimes have.
Thank you!

"Dementia is often incorrectly referred to as "senility" or "senile dementia," which reflects the formerly widespread but incorrect belief that serious mental decline is a normal part of aging."

Maybe this is different in English, compared to other languages, but from what I've found "senile" has fallen out of favor in medical circles and is usually used as a synonym for dementia by people without medical training, often negatively. The comment I responded to said:

"The guys are all getting old and possibly senile now."

which can be interpreted in such a way, especially when the rest of the comment jokes about memory modification. I'm not mad at that comment, nor am I in any place to police the conversation. I'm just asking people to think twice about some of those jokes, because these conditions (and I specifically mentioned them separately) aren't really funny. Not all jokes can be winners.

Feel free to make fun of my comments and my stance if it makes you feel better I guess. I tried to be as charitable as possible, but it seems you're not interested in finding common ground on this.

You can choose to get offended by something just as you can choose not to.

You guys are heavy metal fans. Suck it up. No one was making a personal insult or referencing your family directly.

Yes, I agree with that. The "senile" comment is maybe clumsy but as to me "having dementia" is something very different, like if I say someone is forgettfull lately I am not spreading they have dementia now.
So to me, no need to bring up terrible dementia cases because of that comment.

Neither was I offended, nor did I take it as an insult. I just tried to explain that maybe throwing around accusations of senility (and thus heavily implying dementia within the context of the rest of the comment, as also described in the source I posted above by the Alzheimer's Association) is needlessly provocative. This wasn't about being insulted; it was about the quality of discussion on the forum and if such a topic is even relevant in the first place.

But fuck me, I guess. Let's start attacking Dave on the daily for having the audacity of wanting to see his grandchild. Let's make fun of Steve and Bruce for growing older and becoming senile old fools whose memories are easily played with. Hell, while we're at it why not make fun of Nicko and his stroke? Everyone can simply choose to not be offended, so no reason to not go there right? We are Maiden fans and are entitled to these demands. Hell, we are heavy metal fans, nothing can stop us! Apparantly these topics are vital to the discussion and so important to have here that even a simple "guys, maybe we shouldn't go there" is met with criticism and personal attacks.

I'll take my sarcasm and leave you guys to it. Have fun. I'll chime in again once there's something interesting to discuss about the Run For Your Lives tour.

Spotify's top 30 if anyone's interested (Icarus is above Wasting Love because it's been streamed more lately).

Surprised to see Be Quick Or Be Dead (happy about it, I knew it was well liked), Speed Of Light and maybe CSIT and Eagles. 6 Reunion songs is nice.

If the band is a little ''influenced'' by the online stats, then many songs from this list have a chance for next year. Without the mandatory classics, 10 songs.

I hold the view that if you are no longer capable of playing your own songs, then you had better call it a day.
But Nicko is capable of playing them, just a little different. And it's not because of age, and that's the difference. It's not like he's deluded, he is trying to give his best for the fans, despite everything. Big kudos! I think some comments are exaggerated. The energy (without the last song and maybe Fear) during the gig can be felt, even not in person. I would say that some performances from the current tour are overall stronger than some performances from the 2022 tour.

I knew about Wasting Love, but it kinda surprised me that Be Quick Or Be Dead is in the top 20 as well. Could that be explained by people who know Fear Of The Dark as a legendary metal song, see that an album is titled that and decide to listen to it, thus hearing the first song of the album?

First tracks get a bounce as people put the album on and it get's played, whereas they might turn the album off before getting to the later tracks on an album.

I'd be more worried about people who aren't capable of empathy rather than how capable Nicko is.

Anyone have idea, why Warsaw show hasn't been sold out? To me it has seemed Poles are pretty dedicated fans and during Future Past tour Bruce mentioned that the 2 Polish shows in Krakow were the best ones.
Poles prefer to buy concert tickets closer to the show's date. Some don't like the venue and choose other cities (Berlin, Prague, Bratislava). The stadium isn't known for the best acoustic in the world.

Sales in Poland are normally slow. Last year was much slower for the two Krakow shows. It will likely be sold out in the end. It took them a long time to sell out the stadium in 2022 as well.

Exactly, just a question of time.
