RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2026

I've examined and inspected few recordings of Infinite Dreams.
I think Bruce does remarkably well here, if not even better than I had hoped. Really shining moment and glad to hear his current voice with the song.
I really don't have anything against anything, but I feel somehow that drums do sound a bit weak. I only have few live recordings from the first night (not isolated so can't hear all the things properly) against all the previous live recordings (1988 as you know) and isolated track featuring Nicko on the album. There's something off and I don't quite yet like it. Im not a drummer, but can someone explain or tell me how Simon plays things song in comparison Nicko?
Now thinking I really wish that they would have played this on the Maiden England World Tour as then it would have Nicko in good health, stamina and power.

As bruce said you cant expect nicko because he is not nicko. For me sounds more contundent and short sounding. Nicko was lighter but i dont know he filled the songs more. I havent olay the drums and i dont know anything about drums. But he sound more fat and short ( the sound)

I’m not a drummer either, so I can’t speak as to how Simon plays vs Nicko. However, it’s gotta be the snare. Something sounds so strange about it to me. It’s a bit weak, and it doesn’t sound quite right. Although he does play well and has some good fills.

Honestly, I’d want them to start playing more songs from the Blaze era. Stuff like Man on the Edge, Lord of the Flies, Blood on the Worlds hands, Futureal, Educated Fool. They have gotta move on from clansman and sign of the cross.
Just add one to the set I would be so happy. Futureal and Man on the edge Re corkers

I think it boils down to Simon playing a different kit and being a different drummer. This is very nitpicky but I haven't really enjoyed the way snares are mixed since Pooch came on board, they sound very harsh to me. Everything else sounds great though.

Comparing Simon to Nicko isn't fair. Nicko is a legend and has a very distinct style. It's probably the only drummer I could recognize if I was blind. Saying that, the boys seem more confident now than the Future Past tour and I think Simon is really doing a great job. He's just a bit vanilla. He's playing it safe? I don't know what he used to sound before Maiden. I don't really listen to British Lion

He does in IM basically the same thing that he does on BL. They seem more confident but the band sound got a downgrade on drums IMO (this does not mean that im trashing on simon).

I actually hadn’t paid much attention to this before. I thought Simon played a really good set last summer when I saw them live. The only thing that occurred to me was that during some of the early shows of the tour, the MITRM intro didn’t flow quite as smoothly as it did with Clive.
I didn’t even try to compare his playing to Nicko or Clive last summer. So far this summer I’ve only listened closely to one song, since Infinite Dreams is my absolute favorite.
It’s neither fair nor necessary to compare every drummer or player because they all have their own styles. Some isolated tracks from the official studio albums and live recordings really highlight how Nicko and Clive each brought something unique to certain songs. For anyone playing those songs, it’s not about competition it’s about capturing the feeling of the song while still bringing a little bit of your own personality into it.
