I didn't think the Habs were choking this year-- i was think the Caps were, tho.

I wondered if something was going on for the Habs, tho-- seemed like there was a lot of hope for this year.  But, if they limped in, I dig that.

As one of the announcers said king Lundquist is back after a mediocre game 3. He played amazing in net last night and pretty much saved the Rangers from Avery's dumb penalty's late in the game. The game was really close tho I just think that NY has the better goalie, I'm giving Washington the next game but the Rangers will put them out in game 6.

Yes that Calgary game was wild. Iggy was a beast in that game and so was Olli Jokinen. Khabibulin should have stopped that backhander from Jokinen, but Joe Quenville  was smart to call the timeout and stop the momentum and settle his young team down, allowing them to storm back and tie the game. But Chicago made a mistake in taking a run at Iginla during the end of game 3, making him mad enough to take over game 4.

Amazing game from the King last night. That goal that Chris Drury scored was off a bobbled puck from Varlamov. If you saw how Washington played the final minute of the second period, just skating around there own zone instead of trying to push for a  goal,  you were looking at a beat hockey team. They threw everything at the Rangers and could'nt get a goal, and once again the Rangers played a good game in their own zone, collapsing in front of their own net and boxing the caps out. Much better than game 3 where they were running around their own zone chasing the puck.

MTL did the best they could against the best in the East. The Caps benefitted from a weak division and it shows being down the the 7th seeded Rangers. But I'll say it again, the Rangers won't survive the second round with this kind of defensive play. King Henrik is only human after all.

The Pens better bag their series tonight.

Out west it looks very interesting. SJ looking to tie, Calgary finally playing how they should (minus the semi-collapse in the third the other night) And Detroit is playing like the champ it is against a team that is simply happy to be in the post-season.

Ovie is a tremendous hockey player and is probably the most talented guy in the NHL right now, but he is exhausting himself trying to be a hotdog and do everything buy himself. He is not utilizing his linemates like he did in game 3. He looked like he did in the first two games. He has to control his energy level over three periods of the game and realize he cannot win in the playoffs by himself.

I am not going to make a comment about the next round match up because this series is not over yet. The Caps have the talent to win the next two games a force a game seven. The Rangers have to play like they have this series and not let their foot off of Washington's throat. The Caps looked like a beat and frustrated team.

Wow.  44 save shutout for Brodeur.

I'm gonna have to say the most interesting part of this first round has been the spectacular goaltending.  A common theme has been goalies absolutely stealing games.

Marty is rested, remember, and the Devils are scoring.  As far as that goes...I think it means that the Devils have a huge chance of making it all the way.

Specially if the pens keep rolling over like they did last night. Why the line changes (Satan Boucher)? Completely pointless. Columbus did try in their last game though...

damn.......The King let in 4 on 14 shots and all them looked like he should have had them. He has to play better in game 6 cause I don't want this one going back to DC for a 7th game.

Where  has Joe Thornton been this post season? Does he have a playoff gear in his game? At this point, he lookes like he does'nt even want the puck, and for the Sharks, Joe Thornton needs to be the guy to lead the charge for the offense. I mean what do the Sharks do in the offseason? Where is this teams fire and passion? I think Ron Wilson has to retool this team. I don't see on paper where they have a weakness. It just seems like they don't want to win as bad as Anaheim. It's like this series is even close.

I have seen Joe Thornton play in one playoff series - Mtl vs. Bos 2002?  And we all know how that ended up.  He played, but the rest of his team didn't show.  Since then, he's been a non-presence.

Yeah, that Boston team just imploded in the playoffs. Had the series all ready won in thier minds. Hope the Rangers can take care of buisiness tommorow and put the Caps out of their misery. I am pumped to watch the Hawks/Flames tonight.

I don't know who's gonna win Flames/Hawks.  I want the Flames to win, but only mildly - Jonathan Toews is just superb, and I really do love him and the Hawks franchise in general.

I try to watch everything. College, Major Juniors, AHL, and NHL. They are all different games and fun to watch the differences in styles that each leagure plays. I wish the NHL would return more to their roots though. The Board of Govenors are really starting to fuck up the  league. I like the fact they are focusing on all the clutching and grabbing, but they should also let the players play sometimes. Plus with all the suspensions that Colin Campbell is dishing out, he might as well make it a no hit league.

Oh, World Cup is the best hockey to watch outside of the Olympics. The best players, the best countries. NHL hockey has NOTHING on international play. Well, I shouldn't say that, they're different. NHL hockey, specially playoffs, is very intense and physical, a real grind. International hockey is also intense, but much faster and finesse.

I don't watch hockey, but I have one simple question: Do you guys watch World cup, or just NHL?

I watch everything.  IIHF, NHL, AHL, CHL, the occasional KHL game.  World Cup, World Juniors, Men's and Women's, and Olympics.

I disagree with Onhell: the best play is the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but Olympic hockey is a very, very close second.  Of course, it is a treat we get only once every four years.

I absoultlely think that the Stanley Cup Playoffs is the best to watch. Especially once you get 3 or 4 games into a series and the animosity has built up and begins to manifest itself. Joe Thorton decided to show up last night for the Sharks. A good OT win to stay alive.

Torts got a one game suspension for dowsing a Caps fan with a water bottle, in the same game that he decided to scratch Avery for discipline reasons. Yes Torts should be punished by the league, but this is the Playofffs for Pete's sake. You don't issue a punishment that can affect the outcome of a game!. A heft fine of 50 or 100 thousand dollars would have been enough. I never could stand Colin Campbell, even when he was a coach with the Rangers. But what can you expect when the guy's first name is asshole

Uh.  I want to point out that the NHL wants Washington to win.  I don't think any other coach would have gotten badly penalized in this incident.  To be fair, Torts did squirt the guy with water first.  I lol'd.  But I think that some punishment was needed...a game?  In the playoffs?  Ehhh...

Why do something that will affect the outcome of a game? And that fucking headshot Brashear gave Betts? I doubt Campbell even looks at the footage. Somebody needs to pull a "McSorley" on Brashear. Fucking goon has no place in the league.

The NHL would never want to see Ovechkin or Crosby win a cup anytime soon. ::)
