Avery is a good hockey player.  He's not the best, but he's a 20+ goal guy when he's on his game.

And Marty...he won't pad 100, Onhell.  He has maybe 2 more seasons left.  If he makes it to 3...sure.  But it depends when he decides to retire.  Jersey is looking mighty dangerous this year.

I think Brodeur will play at least 3 more seasons. The Flyers were concentrating on Sean Avery too much. They kept trying to run him down instead of focusing on the play at hand

I am so fucking glad that Avery is back. At least we have someone who plays with fire and has a personality.

Crazy!!!  I had thought they were done, and just yesterday my buddy told me they were within spitting distance of the playoffs... that is insane!  But, it seems that they went on a pretty good winning streak lately.  Go Blues!!

This is the new  NHL guys. It ain't over until the a teams 82nd game has been played. Unless your the Av's or Isles. Then you're playing to win the Jonathan Tavares sweepstakes.

Well, it's true.  I'm just glad Tavares isn't going to Toronto.  Though imagine him being spoiled on the Isles........

If they make it in you should try and get tickets to a game!  Montreal is hanging on by a thread...so perilous.  First round exit if they make it :(

Have faith.  Maybe they'll pull some centennial magic.

Though if they do go anywhere in the playoffs I'm not going to do so well on my exams

You never know in the playoffs... i know most here don't like baseball, but playoff-wise, if you make it in, you can win it all.  Any opinions on whether too many teams make the playoff's now in hockey?  Is it enough for you to make it in?  Like the Blues-- I'd be excited to see them in, but I'm also thinking first round exit.

16 is a good number.  Any less then it'd be boring.  Besides, NHL franchises make money in the playoffs, so it only makes sense to allow half of them in.

Yeah, that makes sense.  And, honestly, there can be some pretty good first round upsets.  How many years did the lowly Sharks take out some 1st seeded teams?  I think Detroit a couple of times, the Blues once...

Ohyeah, and I think it was 2006 that all the top seeds on the west were toppled.  I lol'd.

Ever back when there were 20 some-odd teams upsets were rare since almost every team made the playoffs. with 15 teams in each conference those that make it in usually deserve to be there. And for a long time, even well before the lock-out once a team makes the playoffs anything can happen. as LC stated, 2006 was the year of the Oilers. I still cry just thinking they were a game away...

If only Roloson hadn't gotten hurt in game 1, that whole series was theirs.
That was the whole turning point of the series. And how about the St. Louis Blues? Coming from 10 points out to get into the playoffs(for now?).
