Pens 3, NYR 0!!!! ZERO points from either Malkin or Crosby. THAT is what makes a winning team folks, when the REST of the the team produces whether your "stars" do or not. Can't wait for them to get Gonchar back.

As far as NY getting a compensatory pick, it is in the rule book, I think it was just their timing.

Redden sucks ass. He made a drop pass to nobody on the Penguins blueline. Jordal Staal picked it up and went the other way? Where is the D man to pick him up on the Ranger blueline? Oh yeah he's trucking his ass back up ice!

I know it was a timing issue concerning the draft pick. But alot of the hockey media does'nt like Glen Sather, so they made it out to be something out of nothing.

I agree with Nigel here.  But the Rangers should have waited too - they're supposed to get it, which means they will get it.

Redden is terrible, but he was one of Ottawa's best defensemen.  Now you understand why they suck hard.

I'd just wish Redden would stay at home and stop trying to force the play. He does'nt have the offensive talent on that team to read what he is trying to do. Ottawa needs to rebuild that whole team. Their window closed two seasons ago.

All the talking heads saying trade Spezza don't know what they are saying. He is only 25, Heatley is 27, Alfredson is 36. Who would you move? I say trade Alfie. He may be the heart and soul of the team, but he is on the back 9 of his career. Spezza is a good young player entering his prime, and Heatley is in his prime. If Ottawa wishes to hasten the rebuilding process, they need to move Alfie. Get a good puck moving D man, and try and get someone to help Spezza and Heatley or get a quality goaltender. By the time the right the ship in Ottawa, Alfie might have ridden off into the sunset. And is there a better palyer in the world right now than Alex Ovechkin? I have to get to the Verizon Center or up to the Wachovia to see him play in person. He is a beast.

He is a beast and a scoring machine. I have to say I am a tad disapointed with Sid. I know 30+ goals a season is nothing to sneeze at, but I pictured him scoring more than that, but he is in the top 5 (second to be exact) in the scoring race for a reason...

I think Sid the Kid is a good player, he has the vision to see the play before it happens. Not like Wayne Gretzky but close. He just needs to get over the fact playoff hockey is dirtier than regular season play. Gretzky had the same problem, then blossomed once he realized it and complaining to the officials and started to play the game.

Wayne learned to shoot when he realized people were covering his passes too much. It'll happen with Sid eventually.

Ovechkin is a shooter, pure and simple.  A Brett Hull archetype.  Once he gets a good centre...he's going to be sick.

I think Semin is a pretty good fit with Alex O. Pens need more depth. Sid is facing all the top checking lines this year. Gretz got good with the passing once he synched with Jarri Kurri. On another note, the $67 million dollar glass figurine known as Rick Dipietro is out for the season with knee problems. Could'nt happen to a better team.

Right, but Semin is a winger.  They need young Backstrom to develop, or they need to make a big trade and get an established C.  Only then will we truly know the frightful potential of Alexander Ovechkin.

Washington is getting VERY scary, shame they couldn't retain Huet. Semin gets hurt too often though, that's not a good omen. And I did see the article about Dipietro... what a fucking disapointment. He is good when he plays, but dammit man, does he ever?

Good crop of young goalies in general the past 3-4 years. Price does lead the charge. Fleury needs to find consistency

Price may be the man, but Lunqvist is the King. Why are some of the players whining about having to play in the All Star Game? Alot of them say it is meaningless, which technicaly is true, but it means something to the die hard fans. I realize injury can occur, but they can also occur in a practice. I fractured my tailbone in  a practice, my mom bought me cheap hockey pants with no ass pad and I fell in a drill right on it.

I see their point, but like you said, for the sake of the fans they should keep their opinion (in this case) to themselves and do the PC thing and say, "It's a great honor to represent my team and thank you fans."

Henrik is REALLY good, probably the most consitent goalie (other than Brodeur) in the last 3 seasons. Luongo's biggest competition at the moment

Lundqvist is having a mediocre year so far, only got his first shutout this season, last week. Kind of funny we have two highly paid defensemen (Redden and Rozival) and Paul Mara has turned out to be the best one on the team. BTW, OnHell, how did you come to love the Bruins instead of the Coyotes? My wife loves the Bruins, but she is from BeanTown so I really can't do anything about that. They are really impressive this year, even without Kessel, Lucic and Burgeron they are still kicking ass.

My brother bought NHL '93 after playing it at  a friend's house and I got hooked. He went for Pittsburgh, because they were the "it" team back then. I randomly chose Boston and ended up liking them. Then I caught a highlight on Sports Center of Cam Neely weaving through FOUR players and deking the goalie for his second goal of the game and that's when I knew I had a favorite team. Then I read their history with Orr, Esposito, Cheevers, etc, and that was that.

I've said it before, but I'm a purist. In my opinion all three california clubs, the Coyotes and both florida teams should be moved to where there is at least some fucking snow. relocate them all to Canada where people will actually attend games whether the team is any good or not. New York doesn't need three teams either. Sure the islanders won 4 in a row back in the 80's but that was then, and this is now and they should move along with the Sabres. Then again that's just me.

The Islanders are good for being beat by Philly, the Rangers and the Devils. Plus, given thier recent history since the glory years, they makes for some good comedy. If you want a good light read about them, you should get the book called "FishSticks...The Rise and Fall of the New York Islanders." It will give you some insight about how that team was run back in the 90's and how Mike Milbury ruined the franchise. As for the Sabres, they should stay. But I am for Florida, Pheonix, Nashvlle and Atlanta to move.Tampa Bay, Dallas and the Whalercanes are borderline cases, because they all have won the cup and that does help to attract new fans in unconventional markets.

I came to love the Rangers because of Espo. After their unsuccessful run back in 79, I got a chance to meet Espo, Ron Greschner, Ron Dugay, Nick Fotiou and John Davidson at a hockey camp. I met him a couple of more times when he was a broadcaster for the Rangers. He was such a great guy to meet each time, and he took the time to talk to me and ask me what position I played and gave me some pointers. He also shared alot of stories about the old days with Orr and co.
